Looks like a solid start. It has a '41 front end (which I prefer). Are you sure that it's a '40 ?

It also appears that it has a spare mount on both sides of the bed.

Thanks for the information and the diagrams. My truck is a nice old survivor and I want to stay as close to stock as possible and not use a modern harness.

The car was sold on May 4, 1940. I found the jack wrapped in a Houston paper from May5th. The jack and tools are in Ford burlap bags:
