Re: The forgotten 1960 Fords

Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. IMHO they are best forgotten. Other than the two-door hardtop, I thought the 1960 models were the ugliest ever produced by Ford. My dad was a dealer in...

Re: 6 volt heater in a 12 volt system

Your question is answered/solved, but I've been through that. I converted a '50 to 12 volt back in the '70s. No started problems at all. The heater blower (or some wiring) seemed to smell after...

Re: Where did you find this OD solenoid? or maybe you have one?

There are usually some on ebay. I'm not sure what a decent price is. Keep in mind most 12v from any manufacturer will work if it is a Warner T85. The only difference is usually the wiring. Some...

Re: 59K or 159K? You tell me. (Pictures!!)

How much for it? :D

Of course, I'd still like to know the body style.

Re: 59K or 159K? You tell me. (Pictures!!)

Based on other things you've mentioned, I'd guess 59K. Keep in mind oils from those days weren't near as good as today. Also, any motor that sat a lot could have had condensation that would make...

Re: On a '65 Galaxie should the "HOT" indicator light up when key is turned on?

For what it's worth, early cars with "idiot" lights only lit up when needed. The "alt" and "oil" lights illuminate prior to every start because there is no current and no oil pressure. You'll...

Re: 1954 Ford vs 1951 Ford Wheels

Not sure about the '51 and later, but '49s and '50s with 6 cyl engines came with 16" wheels. The V8s had 15". Don't ask why. Not many can explain Ford logic.

Re: What's better: cork or rubber valve cover gaskets...

Someone told me ramshorns are h**l on the lower part of the valve cover gasket. Which material holds up better to the heat?

Re: Which grade of gasoline for a '65 352 engine?

Most good suggestions have been covered here, but I'd like to see pictures. I once had a '65 2dr HT, same set up with P/S, P/B, and factory A/C. I'd love to have it now!

Re: 3 Speed Overdrive

They pop up on eBay occasionally, though not the best place to source one. I've done the conversion in a '58 and a '72 (though discontinued as a factory option after '71). I love them and think...

Re: shows and swap meets

Sounds like you know a little about the area. I'm a little new to the site and don't know the history on anyone. That is a good place to eat, and if you've not been, you should check out AJ's...

Re: shows and swap meets

Already mentioned, but don't miss the Pate Swap Meet. It is about 120 miles from Mineola, but is the third largest in the country, behind Hershey and Carlisle. I'm about 45 miles east of Mineola...

Re: 1950's F100

As HM said, it is a '59. I understand why the 56 and back are so popular, but I never thought the 61-65 was better looking than the 57-60 "box" trucks. IMHO only the Unibody 61-63 was good looking...

Re: Early Bird Values Soft?

No apology necessary! I think they call it a continental kit for good reason: They belong on Continentals. IMHO, I know of no car's appearance that has been enhanced by those things. Your 'bird...

Re: switch in a 1964 F 100

Pedal operated washers were "manual" using the pumping of a bellows. The upgraded accessory included an electric pump. I'm not sure, but would guess this option was only available on perhaps the...

Probably a stupid question, but it's free to ask. Do you have any rams horn exhaust manifolds?

Re: Overdrive Parts

I've seen 6 volters on eBay. Keep in mind nearly any make will work. There may be variances on wiring hook up, but adapting for that is better than a nonworking tranny.

Re: 1955 Ford poor brake performance

Well, everyone is pitching in advice here, and Drewbaby has yet to further explain the symptoms. I drove a 1950 2 dr sedan in high school and other than "fade", never had any problems. I checked...

Re: 1958 Ford Fairlane Spring Model?

It's nice some out there appreciate the '58. I have a '58 F100, but the car is another story. I always thought the '60 was the ugliest Ford ever and the '58 was a close second. It's like they...

Re: Junkyard (s)

A few months back I read an obituary for a gentleman who had a yard I spent a lot of time in about 35 years ago. I thought of how places like his are just about gone. As I roamed his yard looking...

Re: stuck Exhaust heat riser valve

When moving the weight, look to see if the coil spring is moving to a tighter position (closed) or a more relaxed position (open). I once had the same problem and was able to free it up, only to...

Re: 1957 Ford 9" rear end

Here is a link with some info that might help you identify the ratio if that rear end was the original in the '57.
