Re: 226 engine reading 80# of oil pressure
First thing I'd do is get it fully up to temp and see what it reads. If still high I'd plumb in a mechanical gauge and see what it says. I think it's very unlikely to have 80 warmed up.

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
Those margins will run just fine. I admit to having ground the diameter of a valve down to get a thicker margin, but only if the seat is low enough on the face to still be nicely placed. You're...

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
Heavy liquid assembly lube is much preferred over any type of grease, which can dry out and restrict oil if not run soon after assembling. As for cam lobes, most likely with the low pressures we see...

Re: 32 Ford PIckup Wind Noise
Ah, but Gary's talking about heading into a 40 mph wind plus the 32's speed. Wind like that's pretty common here and makes the air speed 80-100 mph in our cars. Gets pretty noisy! :D

Re: 276 stroker from 35 years of parts
Can you measure the lobes of your new cam to see if they are ground with any taper? I'd be interested to know, and it'll make a difference on how you proceed with lifter inspection.

Re: Helmet Distributor Issues
I don't understand the % figures for dwell. Do you mean degrees? If so, you should be in the 30's, not nearly so high. Your points gaps must be way too low. Generally gaps in the .016 range will work...

Re: NOS 8RT camshaft
If it helps, my "EA" cam in the 260" Merc will go 'round a corner at 10 mph in high gear and pull right back up to road speed no problem. This is with 3.54 gears and 29" tires. Idles smooth. You're...

Re: First drive, a few issues!
If you have 12v running to the gauges you need to drop it to 6v...that's likely what's wrong there. The grind into 3rd sounds like a syncro is worn and will require replacement of parts to fix,...

Re: Back end of a T-5
The 2.8 in '93 was actually a V6, not a 4 cyl...the 4 was a 2.5. The trans should work well for this application I think.

Re: Break-in gone wrong!
Yes, it is possible the pump lost prime. How much clearance did it have between gears and pump cover? If it had a gasket there, how thick was it? Some gaskets are way too thick and will cause a...

Re: New build overheating
Mine normally runs 190-195 with 180 degree stats. That's the temp when a 180 stat is fully open. You'll never hurt an engine at those temps.

Re: Back end of a T-5
The S10 trans will have a modern type slip yoke that attaches to the driveshaft with a normal u joint. It slides into the tail housing of the trans. I'd get the yoke if you can.
