1940 Zenith Radio

Hey everyone, looking to see if anyone has a 1940 Ford Zenith radio that doesn't work at all and they want to part with it for a good deal. Guts can be removed or missing altogether, I need it mostly...

Re: 1940 Ford Zenith Radio

I could easily convert the interior to a modern style bluetooth/USB system using the original speaker, even possibly being able to still utilize the volume dial... but this one seems to work or be...

Re: 1940 Ford Zenith Radio

I did connect it, yes. Still just a light buzzing sound, no static.

1940 Ford Zenith Radio

Hey all, so I've been working a bit on my original 1940 Deluxe Fordor's Zenith radio. This radio looks pretty complicated, but I wanted to see if I could get it to work. But I've run into some...

Re: Early Ford Store

Great people there (Early Ford), they just get busy with online orders and in-person shoppers with minimal staff. I'm about 30 minutes away from them so I'll head up there when I need some used...

Re: DIY Seat upholstery

I'm curious about this, as I need to redo the upholstery on my 1940 Ford Deluxe Fordor Sedan. Is it the headliner material you're talking about? And what year Ford Taurus? Thanks!

'40 Deluze Fordor Sedan Upholstry

Hey everyone, a bit of an unlikely request, but does anyone have a spare 1940 Deluxe Fordor Sedan upholstery kit they didn't end up using? Looks like I'm going to have to replace the headliner, door...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Except people are saying it does have a raised intake. So that seems to make it a 41-42.

I'm going to eventually take off the fenders, and some of the engine items, so I can paint it. That...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

That I actually did know! It was one of the first things I did when I got the original floor covers off. They do indeed match. Somebody had removed the paint before me on the frame rail so it was...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Well darn! Was really hoping this was the original 1940 engine. Not that that's terrible as it's still 1940s, but just another example that an advertised 'barn find original' might not be as original...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Hopefully these help? It's really difficult to tell if there is a lip or not. I can't tell if it's part of the intake manifold or a lip with all the paint, but the front doesn't appear to have a lip?...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Where about are you talking? I can get some photos tomorrow when it's light out. I'm used to WW2 Jeep engines, so these V8s are a bit new for me.

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

So what would that make this engine? From what I was told when I originally bought it, the engine was never replaced. But you never really know.

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Hey Mike! (this is Britt, who's been emailing you), Thanks for the information. I tried the pencil test, but the vehicle is on an inclined driveway, so it won't stay. If it was level, it would indeed...

Re: Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

It's frustrating for sure with no markings!

Downloaded, that's some great info! And no, I hadn't seen that yet! Thank you

Another V8 Identification Thread (1940 Ford)

Hey everyone, so I've been reading all sorts of threads on how to identify V-8 engines, and I'm still coming up with a blank on the one in my 1940 Ford. After spending the better part of a half-hour...

1940 Ford Deluxe Windshield Garnish (right)

Hey everyone! Looking for a right side windshield garnish molding for a 1940 Ford deluxe. Doesn't need to be restored, but at least rust-hole free. My original has rusted through to the point that...

Re: 1940 Ford Deluxe Trunk Cardboard Panels

Thanks! Though it's an interesting shape. I'm not sure what that diagonal cut-out is for. I'll keep that in mind though! Thanks!

That's good to know. I was thinking of starting with a large...

Re: 1940 Ford Deluxe Trunk Cardboard Panels

That's my hope to make them! Thanks for the info on the material. Just need a photo of one of them (I assume they are the same shape on either side) to get an idea of how they look.

Re: 1940 Ford Deluxe Trunk Cardboard Panels

It's tough because I don't think many have shots of them pre-install or when they were pulled out. And since no one sells them repro, I might just have to 'guess' based on photos. But hopefully...

1940 Ford Deluxe Trunk Cardboard Panels

Re: Repro 1940 Deluxe die cast grilles

I was just there today, go there a lot for parts now. They sell everything, Drake, Vintique, Dennis Carpenter, etc. Most of the items I get from them are Drake.

Re: 1940 Deluxe Clock Issue

That's good to know, I can relay that to the clock repairman.

Re: 1940 Deluxe Clock Issue

Would most clock repair people know how to fix this? I'm mainly trying to figure out if it'll be worth repairing for the cost. While I'd hate to ruin my original one by taking off the hands, I'm...
