Thanks - best detailed explanation yet. I've found specifications sometimes leave a bit to be desired. Know that only two cylinders are noisy, what would you look for?

Using EAB heads - showed 60 ths. clearance when I put putty on top of piston and turned motor over. Neither head or valves showed any sign of metal to metal when inspected. Everything clean with no...

Hey Guys - thanks for the suggestions. The motor is 52-53 with EAB heads. The motor mounts are on the water pumps so probably a truck block. Good solid block checked out before we bored out to 187...
