Re: Throttle shaft brass plug for zenith carbs

Necessary is a personal call, since it is on the engine side leaving it alone is an alternative.
Closest similar plug is 1/32 smaller. So now I will see if I can make it work.

Re: Throttle shaft brass plug for zenith carbs

Still looking. Talked with Sacramento vintage, and probably mislead them into thinking part number 85-392 was correct for the 29-31 zenith throttle shaft plug.
The dimension for 85-392 is .47...

Re: Throttle shaft brass plug for zenith carbs

No lathe here, but I like the shell casing idea, or the tubing.

Re: Throttle shaft brass plug for zenith carbs

Sacramento vintage describes the part as: throttle shaft end plug.
I saw it listed in a United Kingdom supplier online catalog.

Guess this is not available.
Anyone know where I can purchase these?
Renners had one.
Shaped like a welsh plug.

Re: Zenith Carb markings

Also, in order to return defective carbs from the dealers to holly a marking system evolved.

Re: Early 30 Pickup questions

I remember seeing a comparison showing that the early brake drum profile (21) is not the same as the later (19) and stress cracks can form in the inner hub of the 21 inch rims.

Re: Early 30 Pickup questions

The early brake drums are not compatible with the 19 inch rims. The drum profile under the studs does not adequately support the wheel hub and stress cracks form.
