Re: Installing the tie rod with new seats

Also make sure the seats are all the way into the springs. The ones I just installed, the seats didn't just slide in, had to use the vice to fully seat them. While the springs and seats are out check...

Re: Tire/tube question

If you are talking about the bridge washer, it helps clamps the stem in the tube and helps support it, keeping it from being pulled out. also because of its shape, pointed ends, would help to keep...

Re: Carburetor noise...

Re: Installing the tie rod with new seats

I smack them on with a dead blow hammer. Have you got the end mostly screwed out? If not you will more then likely never get them on. I just installed a set from Snyders on reballed spindle arms,...

Re: Rear main oil pan seal

The cork rear seal is longer then needed and will need to be shortened a bit, go at it slow so you don't take too much off. Also put a bit of sealer at the ends.

Re: Brake linings

Yes do it all the time. We use a disk grinder with a disk like would be used in a table saw with vacuum attachment. I also have an AMMCO but it's not set up.

Re: Hair-Line Crack

Low cost way; clean, install parts, fill with gas to proper level and let sit. If you leave the top off you can get gas creep up the sides so put the top on too. Gasket set would cost a lot less then...

Re: Installing New Head Gasket

There are 2 different torque values, dry or wet. I am pretty sure the values given in all the manuals are dry. So adding oil is going to change that given value, wet 50 is not the same as dry 50....

Re: Gas Cap leaks

My question is; why have gas in it at all? Drain the tank and plug the opening. If you need to move the car, hang a small tank off the hood rod.

Re: operation question

To adjust the float; you don't bend the tab you shim the float valve up or down as needed. To lower the float; you would be moving the valve down away from the top by adding a fiber type shim washer...

It would involve running a tube from the bowl vent to just in front of the choke area. While the carb is different in this link, the area where the air balance tube would be about the same.
