Re: Totally dead after running for an hour
Does your starter make a clunk sound and that's it? I replaced my starter switch and I put in 1 screw that was about 1/16 longer than the others, causing it to ground out. I would get a heavy clunk...

"On The Road Again"
After a tour in S. Korea, it took a while to get Fred going again. Yesterday was the first ride in roughly three years and it felt great to be behind the wheel of my '30 again. I'm still chasing a...

Re: You can't fix stupid!
I'm the third generation to own my Model A, wouldn't think of modifying it in any way like that. Build a ramrod from scratch, sure--but no inheritance or original!

Re: 2 Issues Intertwined?
Hi Paul, once again you have good advice. I put the foil between the exhaust manifold/muffler that I was asking about earlier this week, waiting to see the outcome though (thanks to the new issues)....

Re: 2 Issues Intertwined?
Scott,
It is a new battery and had a full charge on it last weekend, according to my charger. The cut-out is also the original style, I'll take a look at that this afternoon. I grew up in NW...

2 Issues Intertwined?
Got the '30 running Tuesday, the kids were thrilled! Went for a spin yesterday, and the battery was dead. I'm suspecting a bad cut-out, is there anyway to test it before I just start changing parts...

Re: Silly Exhaust Question
Steve, I do remember having a black soot come out of the exhaust upon start-up and spitting it on the ground.
Tom, I'll first try to disconnect it at the maniflold and give it a shot. I grew...

Re: Silly Exhaust Question
It's definitly an exhaust smell. I know what she means; but being a (car) guy, I will drive it all day long and deal with it. However, I do want the wife with me and the kids in the rumble seat.

Re: Missing Bendix Bolt in Flywheel Housing
I recently found my Bendix set-up broke as well. I called two parts stores and neither had the original parts I needed in stock, so I went with the new style drive. I'm rebuilding my carb now, so...

Re: Help! distributor
When you have the distributer cap off checking the points, where is the coil wire and cap at? If it just dangles down it can ground on the engine and steal the spark. When this happens I always...

Is there a coil on the firewall? I don't see the ignition cable going into the distributer, spark advance rod from the left lever by the steering wheel to distributer. Good project with original...

Re: When to start driving again???
My wife had a hip replacement at 38 years old and she was driving in roughly five weeks. At the same time, she was driving a modern automatic vehicle, not my Model A.

Re: Model A won't crank
Bruce, 3 of the starter switches are short and one is slightly longer. Hmmmm, I will research this.
Pete, I do not know how to do a voltage drop, but I will research that as well. Thank you.
