Yep, my grandfather said "you were LUCKY if u got 10˘ to your dollar back from the bank" in those years.
He kept very little in a bank the rest of his life because of it. Cookie tins and canning...

I've a '49 Diamond T pickup thats been started in restoration and put away a couple times.
In time I'll get back to it. I always thought they were a tough and good looking truck.

Timken grease is good. Any good wheel bearing should be good. A smaller brass punch will work to install the races. It's what I've done many times without any problems.

U can also put a small round paper cartridge type filter in the sediment bowl with a spring under it.
Napa gold 3039. They work great!

That's the usual placement of the stamp.
It's been said that those stamps were placed once an engine was overhauled or some major service work performed after leaving the factory.
It could be why...

Ford was stickler on quality and records.
Some place there has to be knowledge on this. Whether it be stamped numbers, cast numbers.
First thing that comes to mind is the Benson Research center...
