Check page 177 & 179 in the 38-40 service bulletin's. You may have wrong
width synchro sleeve. They changed the width of the large gear on the cluster.
As a result the sleeve rubs on...

thread. I remove the center main studs or bolts and drill with magnetic mount drill.

Any body know part number, or have info on field coils
used on generator with bulbous case from about 1937.
The case was made to take large coils so it would charge
at low speeds....

When I do a dual coil Zephyr, I unsolder mount tab from the original cap
and resolder it to a Napa FA49 that fits 36-41. Works great.

It provided additional lube oil to the rear thrust face. The part number
was 81B-6331-whatever undersize letter. The ones...

I used to O-ring the shafts on Model A's, but had lots of knifed O-rings, so went with this setup on the V-8 transmissions.

I use a boring head in the mill. (the tool advances with every rev of the head)
Toolbit is ground per the O-ring bible.

I O-ring the case, and use Redline MT-90 gear oil, with no leaks and a nice shifting transmission. I cut three grooves, one on the back of the reverse idler shaft bore, and two grooves on the cluster...
