Looks like it's been there for a while but it should come off.

Re: any advantages to downdraft carb & header..??

How does the GAV work on dual updrafts? Seems like you'd only have the adjustment on one carb?

Re: Transmission Reassembly

Shouldn't be on the hub that tight. Support the bearing in a vice and a few taps on the hub with a drift should free it right up.

Re: No Compression in 3 & 4 Cylinders

The graphite gasket is well liked. For a stock head though, copper is a good choice too. Send that “modern” gasket back, it’ll just give you headaches down the road. Antifreeze attacks the silicone.

Re: Origional color choices

Too many color combos to type out. Black wheels only until mid-late 1930, from then on colored wheels an option on Deluxe cars, wheel color matched to stripe.

Re: Transmission Reassembly

As someone who was in your shoes a couple months ago the short answer is not that hard.

I didn't touch the clutch since it's basically new but I did do everything else. I reinstalled mine by...

Re: Building a Travel Toolkit

My kit consists of;
-A couple flat blade screwdrivers
-8" adjustable wrench
-9/16" combination wrench (this is the wrench I find myself most often looking for)
-Feeler gauges
-Jack and jack...

Re: No air filter . . .

Were those air filters or just silencers? The 1932 promotional video calls it a silencer.

My grandfather used a paper filter on my car. One day it wouldn't start after sitting for about a month...

Re: Resonant Rattle

I feel your pain... my car has several of these "sympathetic vibrations". One that I posted about earlier has seemingly gone away on its own (worrying). The others I think are the brake rods, muffler...

Re: points burning out on the Model A distributer

Burning out brake lights would make me think a poor battery connection causing the generator voltage to spike like Purdy said back in 2012.

Have you burned out any more bulbs since going...

Re: Transmission Issues

Also, yes definitely rehab the transmission while it’s out. I didn’t when I had mine out to do the engine and I ended up pulling it 500 miles later to rebuild it. Mine needed a cluster gear. If yours...

Re: Transmission Issues

Yep, that’s what I have in my car... Bought the clutch kit years ago and installed it with the new engine. Crossing my fingers things stay where they’re supposed to.

Re: 1929 Model A steering box play

If you want to rebuild the 7 tooth box you have by all means go right ahead. But you could also find a decent used 2 tooth box and column for a ‘29 and rebuild that. I’ve heard 2 tooth boxes steer...

Re: babbit tolerance? .000?

Re: Stupid Question #2: how does an iron frame act as a ground on our cars

My car has the main ground cable running right from the battery to the top starter bolt. A 7 year old neglected 6V battery still spins it over like it was new. I use the stock ground on the frame for...

Re: 6V regulator challenges

Most LED bulbs I have seen that work on 6v also work up to 12-24v like big job said. I put a cheap set in my parking light sockets and mine flicker only when the engine is idling. If I raise the RPM...

Re: 3.27 ring and pinion, anyone using one ?

I would say you can go a little faster, especially with 3.54 gears. I have a 5.5 head and a touring cam so my car makes peak power around 2400RPM which is ~55MPH, after that power drops off quickly....
