Re: Safety cage?
Don’t know if this helps, but I had a similar concern about 30 years back. What I built for my closed cab pickup will not meet any particular safety standards, but I felt it made significant...

Re: Looking for A-17737d2 Mirror bracket
I might, but I have to find it and verify if it is d1 or d2. I know it has a drilled hole where the mirror ball would fit. I found two brass casting reproductions in the early 1990s for my closed...

Re: Luck Selling on this Site?
I had good luck on here getting rid of a bunch of parts. My main requirement was that they be picked up as a batch, not picked through. I wasn’t trying to make anything.

Re: Size of pinstripe brush
One Shot thinned with turpentine. As a total amateur, each time I need to stripe, I practice pulling lines for a half hour or more before starting on the real thing. I practice on an old old coupe...

Re: Remove Rear Fenders
Basically what you want is to get welting installed with minimal damage and maximum ease. When building my cabriolet a few years back, using repro steel fenders, I installed and removed the fenders...

Re: drilling on powder coated surface
There is a broad range of opinions about powder coating; but hardly any by actual users of powder coating. I powder coated the boards on my closed cab PU in 1993 and no chips yet. Powder coating...

Re: Poll Re Driving Original Model "A"
Not anymore. In the sixties I drove my A cabriolet anywhere in Northern California and southern Oregon without worries. The freeways weren’t built, cars didn’t have radial tires or disc brakes, and...

Re: Banger Fuel Injection
I have the Mooneyes 97 style in my 51 Ford, and think it might be great on a Burtz block motor. Mine was a pain for a few years sorting it all out, but primarily because it is 8 ‘97’s’, 16 injectors...

Newport engineering makes good quality 12 v wiper kit for a variety of cars. Good customer support too. For my 51 ford, it was a perfect fitting, bolt in replacement. I have a Vintique one in my...

Re: How Old Is Too Old?
In my case it made a big difference in pedal effort. And yes the aftermarket arm was longer the the old one. I also recall that I heated and bent it a bit to improve angles.

The thoughts brought up by Bob B, the original poster, have largely been lost. An automatic transmission and power steering are clearly not everyday modifications to our A’s. When I started...

Re: How common is it to just take the shocks off?
I got my 29 cabriolet in 1958-59 and none of the shocks were functioning after 100,000+ miles. I imagine that was the case for most A’s still running by then. As I recall a couple of the links were...
