Occasional Starter Noise

Occasionally I press the starter and just get a "whrrring" noise. I take my foot off and press again and starts fine. This does not always happen ....maybe 1 in 10 starts, Any thoughts?

Leaking Oil while engine runs

Hopefully this photo is attached. I have oil leaking from a small hole in flywheel housing(?). It leaks when running but stopped when engine turned off. This car (30 pickup) has a later ('39)...

If I remove the gauge how do you know if there is oil pressure? or am I worrying for no reason, seemed to run normal.

Started 30 pickup after a few months and noticed oil pressure gauge at zero, was running okay but I turned it off. Problem?

When I start my 30 pickup, there are black spots on the driveway , a discharge from the exhaust pipe. It is a mostly dry substance, with no smell, looks like soot from a fireplace. Any thoughts?

slash pan too wide?

Installing splash pans, the holes closest to radiator line up with frame and oil pan, but rear holes are about an inch too wide. Is this common....do you have to bend to fit?
