I always starve it for gas when i shut er down. What do u think about this leak from choke rod entry point?

Shouldnt it not get pSt the shutoff valve anyway?

Leaking carb

I am getting fuel leaking from where the choke rod enters. This is surprising since there is a fuel shutoff to prevent this. Does that mean i have a bad shutoff valve?
