Re: 35 Three Window Coupe Proportions

I don't want to be contentious here, but since we are talking about the styling of a '35 Ford 3-window coupe, I have an opinion that I would like to be given some consideration, I will preface this...

Re: flathead mercury EAC engine info needed

Out of idle curiosity, on what do you base this statement?

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

My partner in this venture is an accomplished EE and has this and more. I really don't appreciate your condescending post. I might value your opinion more if you could spell "distributor" correctly.

Re: reliable fuel gauge? anyone?

Aftermarket stuff? Sorry about the "King-Seeley" remark; I thought this was an early Ford forum.

I don't speak "Street Rod", so I'll bow out.

Re: reliable fuel gauge? anyone?

My first suggestion would be to familiarize yourself with the "KIng-Seeley" system and how it works if you are not already familiar with it. Fords used this system, which is quite unlike anything...

Re: Holley 94 vacuum port plug

When I had to plug them, I always used a "Ford Nut" soldered up. Are you telling me a 3/8-24 set screw would have saved those rare pieces?

Re: What lube for '39 vacuum wiper motor?

With the hose disconnected, operate the wiper blade manually. Moving it in one direction (I forget which) creates a vacuum on the inlet.

Re: U-joint Play (again!)

From what "Kube" said ("convex side"), it sounds like the washer should be slightly cupped. THe one in the picture doesn't appear to be. Is it just that it's so slight that it doesn't show?

Re: 8BA Truck Motor - Oil

That statement is unclear. Is he recommending that weight for general use, or for the initial run to facilitate oil pump priming? It seems to me to be the latter, but we can't be sure.

I run my...

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

My partner is an experienced electrical engineer and does have such a meter. Surprisingly, the condensers we have checked are usually pretty consistent, unless they are shot. We check each of the...

Re: flathead mercury EAC engine info needed

"EAC" is a '52 or '53 Mercury engine. They had the highest HP rating of all of the "normal" flatheads at 125 HP. (337 Lincolns and big truck engines are completely different and don't count.) To...

Re: Brake flaring tool & tube straightener suggestions

It all depends on if you use "cunifer" or steel. When I was using my "Old Forge" flaring tool, about 1 in 5 leaked and I had to do them over, sometimes a couple of times. Now I have no such problem....

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

Confirms what I have concluded. Thanks, "Pete". It means a lot coming from you.

I was kinda surprised that an old "cam grinder" would be so "up" on advanced mathematics, but once I thought about...

Re: 8ABA engine distributor?

This post tells me something. "jrvariel" has a specific purpose to his build and knows what he needs. "Derek Costello", on the other hand, has not given us any information about the vehicle he has or...

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

There was an article about 15 years ago in the EFV8 club magazine that baddressed this exact issue. It looked good to me, but there was a lot of resistance to the process. I don't exactly remember...

"34fordy" - Just curious; have you had your coil rebuilt or is it original?

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

"Terry OH" posted a link to an article concerning this on my previous thread. You are correct in saying that the optimum capacitance varies with RPM. I will be doing some additional research on this,...

Re: Header Suggestion

WOW! Those things are HUGE. Just for conversations sake, I have always heard that working on the intake ports on a flathead yields more and better results than working on the exhaust. Do you agree...

Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

For the last three years, my partner and I have been trying to find a .33 micro-farad capacitor to be used in our units under certain circumstances. Recent research has yielded enough information...
