Re: Never rent your car to the studios
My 1939 Ford Fordor was in the Hawaii 5.0 episode shoot that flashbacked to 1941. However, it made the cutting room floor and not the final episode. On shoot day in Manoa, the cars were all Model...

Ted - thanks for the photos. That gets me going in the right direction. I appreciate the time you took to respond. I'll see if I can make some more progress this weekend and post some pictures.

1934 Ford Pickup fuel system questions
Ford Barners,
I'm re-doing the entire fuel system from tank-to-engine on a stock 1934 Ford Pickup. The old system was not entirely stock as it had a younger tank, used a 1936 Ford...

Re: 42 1 1/2 tonne- restoration
I'm fairly confident Ford painted handles in trucks through 1947 (I could only speculate on younger trucks).
And I'm jealous of your far-less-complex hand brake assembly compared to my COE (the...

These trucks tend to get around...
Before I bought my COE, it started out as a coal truck in Massachusetts, then spent time in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Nebraska. There may have been other places...

Query: How to remove/replace fuel pump valves?
Ford Barn,
I am (attempting to) rebuild a '34 pickup fuel pump. The stock fuel pump internal valves (numbered 9352 on the included diagram) show they are supposed to be held in by a mounting...

Re: 1939 COE speedometer cable
Here's a picture of my 47 COE speedo cable coming through the firewall. It appears the cable routes over the top of the doghouse behind the dash, then comes through the hole seen here and follows...

Re: Tightening the fan belt on a show car
I use a mini-crowbar (about 12 inches long) and takes up much less space than a full-size crowbar and two thin sheets of soft wood. The soft wood deforms rather than scratching the paint. One could...

Re: 1939 COE speedometer cable
Chris,
I have a '47 COE and I've never touched my speedo cable so off-hand I don't know how it's routed. I'll have to take a look and a few photos. Give me a day/two to do that.
The...

Re: 1934 Pickup Fuel Tank Removal Query
To remove the filler neck, you need a spanner wrench. My KR Wilson catalog from 1940 doesn't show they made such a wrench but that isn't a definitive statement - someone more familiar with KR Wilson...

1934 Pickup Fuel Tank Removal Query
I need to remove the fuel tank in my dad's '34 pickup due to too much rust/sediment in it. The tank also does not have a stock sending unit (the one installed is a non-hydrostatic King-Seeley gauge...

Re: 2 ton ruckstell
It appears so. I have the COE linkage (which is different) and my COE is the short 101" wheelbase, so I don't have the intermediate bracket or bellcrank (4173M on conventional trucks, 4174M on the...

Re: 2 ton ruckstell
burnette,
I can't say for sure but I think the 1940-44 mechanically shifted axles are the same as the 45-47 vacuum shifted axles with one difference: the shift arm is either different or mounted...

Re: 2 ton ruckstell
Greetingss, I'm adding a couple of diagrams that might be helpful. Stu's post shows the 38-39 mechanical linkage and a 38-39 axle connection without the cable used in the 1940 and younger trucks. ...

Re: '37 horn (12v)
This thread presents a couple potential misconceptions:
1) Running a 6V horn on 12V uses half the amperage
2) The heavier wiring will prevent damage/destruction of the horn
Both...
