Partially. About 1/4 of the gasket is still in there somewhere. I'm using a pickup tool like the one suggested by Dollar Bill.

Drained most of the gas. I back her UP the driveway, then stop...

Unhappy GAS CAP GASKET - Lost into Tank

Went to fill up, removed the cap and the gasket had disintegrated. One-half fell into the tank! It's a black rubber-like material. Would it float?

Any suggestions (short of removing the tank) on...
