Re: Clutch Chatter

If it's the original pressure plate maybe the three fingers aren't evenly adjusted.
Perhaps you need to reface the pressure plate too?
I took my flywheel in to be re-drilled & tapped to take a...

Re: Running on 7 &1/2

Well, the other thing I've been doing since using 95 is to add upper cylinder lube, primarily to protect the valve seats so it's all making sense.
I could probablg try going back to 91 and continue...

Re: Running on 7 &1/2

Yeah Red. Might've "ungummed" a valve. But remember, the compression wasn't too bad. And I'm hearing you other boys about low octane & low compression engines and all that. AllI know is, it's...

Re: How Ford Gauge Unit Work

..."tooted adjuster" ?????!!!!!!!
Bad typo there. Try ..."toothed adjuster".
You know the little thing I mean in the sender unit. You adjust the mechanical pressure on the points so that they will...

Re: Running on 7 &1/2

Yes. Thanks for your input there Terry. I did try that (another lead, another plug. But as I said in the last comment, using 95 octane seems to have resolved my problems.
BTW. I have read on a...

Re: How Ford Gauge Unit Work

Very belated update on the intermittent fuel sender problem. I ended up pulling the unit back out. Disassembled it on the bench and aggressively filed the points till the pitting was almost gone....

Re: Running on 7 &1/2

I know I'm reopening an old thread here but I fixed my suspected "running on 7 1/2 cylinders" issue a few months back.
I was running on 91 octane petrol. Went to 95 and after a tank or so of the...

Re: Clutch Chatter

Put a Falcon 9 inch plate & pressure plate in mine. (Had to redrill the flywheel for the pressure plate).
Falcon spline was the same as Cusso spline -I THINK...

Re: 12 volt oil pressure and temp sending units?

On second thoughts... I won't do that article. These Ford King Seeley fuel, temp & oil gauges have been done to death all over the Fordbarn forum. If you search for Ford fuel gauges, or Ford fuel...

Re: 12 volt oil pressure and temp sending units?

Well, yeah, they can go bad. Especially the fuel senders. Probably because there's a little more going on mechanically with the fuel sender.
The only way to really test the senders you have would be...

Re: 12 volt oil pressure and temp sending units?

Paul, internally the 6 volt senders are all the same animal and it shouldn't matter what year they came from , unless externally they don't fit. BUT... I've been wrong before!

Re: 12 volt oil pressure and temp sending units?

Busmania, like a few of the blokes here said - you'll need the voltage reducer from a 12 volt Ford - (not a 56) found mounted behind the gauges. Alternatively you can use an electronic 12 volt to 6...

Re: Parking enforcement LA 1941

Cops don't get involved in parking issues down under. It's managed by local council - and some of those boys & girls can get an authoritarian head swell let me tell ya !

Re: 36 2dr crazy gas gauge reading

So your piece of wire goes from one of the screws holding the sender in, to the floor of the boot - mechanically connected at both ends?
If so, then that's telling us that the tank isn't earthed...

Re: no power

Sticky valves perhaps? (Sticking open) Pretty common problem with these old flatheads if they're let sit for a while.

Start her up. Let it run for a while.
Try squirting a bit of oil in each plug...
