Re: Holley or Stromberg carb.

It won't even move? Maybe your problem is something other than the carburetor?

Re: 38 Standard Tudor rear side window removal

Someone just asked about installing Tudor rear windows, and I posted steps I took to do that on a '37. Removal is pretty much the reverse order. And I think your '38 is the same. See post #8 in this...

Re: dirty oil. Why so quick

Guys, you are responding to a thread from six years ago.

My first clue was seeing a post from G.M. He passed away a few years ago.

Re: Rubber stopper on window channel?

Found this old post on the V8 Club forum in response to someone asking same question. I had posted this after doing my '37 Tudor quarter windows. Your '39 is probably similar but might have some...

Re: Running ford king seeley gauges on 12 v

I don't believe it. Gauges might work on 12v. but probably with no accuracy.

Maybe (I don't know) the pulsing sender is not affected by voltage. But I believe needle movement in the gauge works on...

Re: No Brake Lights

For my correct original car, I would never add an obviously wrong mechanical switch. Some years ago replaced the hydraulic switch with a Harley switch like the one recommended by Kube in #9 above....

Re: 41 Pickup Defrost Nozzles

Just make four more posts right here saying “ok thanks”.

We will understand what you are doing, and the site’s computer won’t care, will count them.

You should edit your public profile to add your location. You might just get lucky, someone close to you might be willing to help.

Re: Oil Filter Canister Question

Don’t forget the restrictor needed to maintain oil pressure in the engine. .062 opening in a washer somewhere on the inlet side of filter.

Re: Door weatherstripping 40 coupe

Just asked on Carpenter's site chat line if they are also selling the Vintique packaged product. Got this reply:
"I believe ours is made by uss..."

Not totally reassuring, but I will take a...

Re: Door weatherstripping 40 coupe

My sad experience with the '40 hinge seal packaged and distributed by Vintique:
The seal is about 24" long but was stuffed into a plastic sleeve package about 18" long. Rubber looked like a snake...

Re: 12V ‘35 Battery charged starter won’t turn over.

I agree with this. Nothing in the original post to suggest starter is hanging up. Only symptom he describes is fast clicking.

Could be bad solenoid, or just poor electrical connections. My first...

Re: Helmet Distributor Issues

Dwell (duration of points closed) happens eight times for each 360 degree revolution of the distributor. So dwell as a percentage is the percent of 1/8 of a revolution, of 45 degrees. 22-1/2 degrees...

Re: Directionals switch

I did that same dumb thing one time on a '58 Chev with an aftermarket fuse block. Can't blame anyone else, I did it. I had plugged the turn signal flasher into the flasher cavity for the four-way...

Re: Directionals switch

The advice about bad grounds is wrong. You are suddenly having signal problems front and rear….. did all the grounds go bad at the same time? And those bad grounds work ok when you apply the brake...

Re: Skip Haney

That is a scary thought. As far as I know he is the only one who can do what he does with the coil, and I believe he has kept it a closely guarded trade secret. Wonder if he has been training...

Re: 1934 Closed Car Window Crank Handle

Karl, you make a good point. I’m one of those who has griped about Vintique. But I guess it’s like complaining about getting old. Might be bad, but still better than the alternative of no parts...

Re: '37 ignition

I don't know the answer to that. I'm thinking while the extra capability is not needed, I can't see how it hurts anything. But maybe I'm wrong. Maybe under some unusual conditions it could cause...

Re: '37 ignition

The original coil mounted on distributor is known to be fragile, prone to failure. Recommendation today is to have an original coil rebuilt by Skip Haney. He uses modern materials (don't ask what,...

Re: '37 ignition

Your latest post came in while I was typing.

A bad condenser will produce a weak spark. And condensers are fragile, limited life. Some are bad right out of the box.

Re: '37 ignition

My guess, I'm no expert:

Some thousands of volts for a millisecond. How many thousands? Dunno. Never saw it specified anywhere. Would not be able to measure it without special equipment.

The...
