Re: Piston and cylinder clearance / measurement???

This is the best advice. The pistons I got from Snyders had a smaller suggested oversize. I used their specs, and had to pull the engine and have it rebored because it was too tight, overheated, and...

Re: 28 Broadlace trim

I have always liked that little extra touch on the ‘28 interiors, and regret that it wasn’t available for my ‘29s. LeBaron Bonney used to offer it. I wonder if there is any stock left from their...

Re: 32 model b engine

I hope you have a fat wallet! Engine rebuilds cost mucho dinero. Get that B engine as cheap as you can. I would budget at least $4000 from start to finish, and that has to include all the attachments.

Re: Fact or Fiction: Headlight Lens Gasket

Very interesting. Do you have any information about atmosphere, pollution, and nickel plating? My replated for 15 year (2005) radiator shell is holding up much better than my original plated (1929)...

Re: “The Restorer” for Jan/Feb 2021

No. Who can explain the mysteries and vagaries of postal delivery? Not the post office, and certainly not me.

Re: “The Restorer” for Jan/Feb 2021

Contrary to Mr. McMimmcs’ statement, there is a very reasonable and logical explanation.

The two magazines are produced and published in different parts of the country with different staff,...

Re: Clutch finger adjustment in car

I did that in my coupe, using a combination square, which allowed me to set the depth at 5/8" and position it over the fingers for adjustment. The hardest part was securing the nuts after adjustment,...

Re: Adding Guages

I have heard that Henry didn’t think a temp gauge was necessary, nor was a motometer, which he resisted offering. His comment, supposedly, was, "Any fool can look out over the hood and see if the...

Re: Early '28 Model A - possible AR?

Early ‘28 hoods had an upper slant to the top of the louvers that were not parallel to the hood hinge. Lacing on the radiator shell was threaded into holes in the shell. Most had shrouds on the...

Re: Benefits of a thermostat?

Henry hired the best engineers of his time, and I run all my A’s completely stock, so I’ve never seen a need. I trust the engineers, and my cars are still reliable and run well after 92 years. I...

Re: if you could go back in time, what Model "A" parts would you bring back?

Ammeter. Popout switch. Houdaille shocks (though Stipes are very, very good.) Electric wiper. Trunk lid handle.

Re: Won't Start when Warmed Up

That was my problem with my coupe. The clearances mfg specified on current rings and pistons are incorrect for Model A, at least when sleeved back to standard.

Trunk lid handle not locking

My trunk lid lock has stopped locking. The key still turns and the handle opens and closes properly, but it doesn’t lock. Is there a DIY fix for this or should I just take it to a locksmith? It is...

Re: AutoLite heater install

That is the best ex. manifold to have. They are more likely not to sag at the rear. Keep it and find a proper Autolite cover for it. Saying that, the hole in your firewall may still be located wrong....
