Re: Swirled Glass Shift Knobs

I had one but accidently dropped it on the garage floor. They're not very forgiving.

Re: Speedometer error

Mine is off about 5 mph at 30 miles per hour. I guess it could be fixed, but for the price of about $100 I'll just keep the difference in mind.

Re: Timing and hand throttle levers

A few years ago I helped a friend restore a '30 coupe. It went smoothly and it was a good experience until we installed the levers in the steering column.

Re: starter rod assembly

WOW. I feel humbled to give Tom Endy advice. My '30 town sedan has the rubber grommet and the metal clip screwed to the firewall from the engine side. Be proud grandpa! Looks like a good car and...

Re: Stainless Steel Model A

A couple stainless steel Fords were in the Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland years ago. I haven't been to the museum for several years to see if they're still there.

Re: New Manufactured Zenith Carburators

I bought a new one from Snyder's on the day I got my first social security check! I think I paid about $400 for it. I put it on my car and it wouldn't work. I called Snyder's and they told me that...

Re: No Spark--Follow Up

Ralph, How long did it take to make that "silk purse out of a sow's ear?" She's a beauty. Columbiana, huh? I guess you made a few trips just down the road to Snyder's.

Horn Rod?

It's Memorial Day and a Model A friend wants to put his car in the parade. Suddenly last week his horn stopped working. We put a jumper on it and found that the horn itself is fine. We put a...

Re: Engine diagnosis?

I've heard it said on Ford Barn that many fuel problems are electrical.
Go figure.

Re: "Sure-Stop" front brake equalizer

I've had these on my car since I bought it 27 years ago. I think they work as well as the original wedges, but you have to check the linings to make sure they don't wear down too far.

Re: Right hand drive frame?

Thanks for your responses guys. I think John is right in that my car (at least the frame under my car) was a leftover before the change. I've never seen the serial number on the frame, but the man...

Re: Right hand drive frame?

Good suggestion, Paul, but I don't know of any of my friends who have original engines (matching numbers.) I know my car is a 1930, but the engine is a '31 according to the engine number. The car was...

Right hand drive frame?

Yesterday I was under my 1930 Briggs Town Sedan with left hand steering, and noticed that the right side of the frame was drilled for a right hand drive steering gear. Several weeks ago this was...

Re: Identifying Year Of Model A Frame

John,
You just answered a question that I've had for some time. A friend has a '29 and when we were under the car a few weeks ago I noticed holes in the frame on the passenger side that matched the...

Re: Wheels

How bad are the cracks? What year is the car? As CWPASADENA says welding wheels id not for amatures, are you a good enough welder? Maybe you should find a friend to weld them for you. Maybe you...

Re: Reducing Fumes and Noise

Like Y-Blockhead, I also have a '30 Town Sedan, and also have installed both on my car. The insulation was a a chore to install with the gas tank in but I finally got it. I like it as it cuts down on...

Re: Can I run my A on White Lightning Moonshine?

I think this goes back to that urban myth that if said grandpa ran out of gas on Saturday night he just poured in whiskey and got home. Just don't tell grandma.

Good for you, David. I called Snyder's a couple months ago and was told they are basically "not available at this time."

Zenith carb rebuild

Have rebuilt the carb on a friend's Zenith. Runs well until he stops and then the gas runs out of the carb. I know this has been discussed here many times, but I can't seem to find it on the...

Benson,
I don't know if the toe-in is correct, but it's easily altered with simple tools, nail clippers.

Re: Spark advance question

Conaway2,
Jim, after 50 years you should be telling all of us how to drive an "A" I adjust the spark in my car exactly the same way you do. I just do what the car seems comfortable with. Been...

Re: The wife and I drive our 30 coupe in to town

Nice ride, Art. We've done the same with our "A" and I've wondered about being in opposition to the "stay at home" ruling, but nobody said you can't drive (whatever car you have available.) My wife...
