I used to have the standpipe and pencil filter. -and would still have problems, took them out, filled and sloshed -- drained till most was gone, left the standpipe/filter out, went for a long drive...

The "q7" is a date code
What is the diameter?
Does it have mount for fan on the front
Is it for 2 brush generator or 3 brush generator
The "green book"(28-48 parts book) has pictures

I had a era 4 post lift, for such jobs I would leave the rear wheels hanging off the end, for front drive I would hang the front wheels over the end, sometimes with safety chain if I was worried...

When the oil is at the proper level some is sucked up into the mesh when it drains back it carries dirt with it so the mesh is pretty much self cleaning

I got to watch it happen with my smiths compresser. I had the oil level to the middle of the letter "F", the owners instruction book for the car says "up to the f", once it expelled the excess oil it...

if it is a 3 brush the later field coils may not fit, the housing diameter is smaller than the 2 brush

use punch trough the 2 holes for lower plate bolts to remove lower race
I used a thick rubber O-ring instead of the cork seal between the housings
Are you going to use the original needle bearing...

I originally tried to work the flat back to round ,then reflatten, it broke off, i have since learned to cut the washer and bend it open, then squeeze the washer back around the rod
My now too short...

The amperage ratings of the generator regulator have to match the generator, the generator fields have to be wired to match the regulator, some control field power, some ground

Every time I look at the pictures it seems that the inner diameter of the disc looks large, what looks like a wear pattern on the flywheel looks smaller than the lining on that disc,

I made a diode cutout many years ago using a delco press in diode in original cutout, I removed the coil and armature, drilled a hole in the relay frame and pressed it in, it was a used diode found...

It depends on what kind of light you are looking for, if you want to read street signs, see birds on branches LED is good, if you want to see the curve coming sign a tenth of a mile down the road get...

I read a article about motorcycle fork oils, ATF is rated as good in it's viscosity range, and tractor multi viscosity transmission oil had a good rating ---depending on how worn the socks are

There are lens reflector units that take H4 bulbs, they can be 6V(many voltages and wattages in H4 bulbs), would be direct fit --no modifications in place of seal beam

If you are going to use a gasket under the water outlet don't flatten it, if you are not going to use a gasket it has to be flat----

I cured the hot ammeter with new nuts and soldering the bolt heads to the internal metal--- then I had to take it apart again to paint the cleaned brass and solder flat black because I could see it
