In 58 I had a Zippo. Much easier than wooden matches. I filled it with Avgas from the wheel well quick drain in Navy Super Connie’s I still have it but have no need to use it.

Clutch Housing Crack

I have two clutch housings both with a crack in the same location.
I could not find anything on line about cracks in this location.
Both are cracked from the throw-out-bearing inspection cover...

I have had cooling systems leak a small amount water when cooling down and then quit.
Usually tightening the hose connections cures it.

Modern cars don’t suffer from this problem because the fuel tank is sealed.
Model A’s, lawn mowers and airplanes tanks etc, are vented all the time. Cold night fuel contracts and pulls in air....

If you have a Mitchel overdrive, shift it into neutral and immediately down shift the transmission without double clutching and then shift the Mitchell back into low or high.

Maybe my problem removing the starter with the modern Bendix is the F100 steering column???

I turned every which way and couldn’t get it around the the water inlet and steering column.

I am 85, can still do most everything I want do but hand cranking a Model A with a high compression head is one I can’t do.
I still hand prop my Cub but the lever arm is much longer on that.

Except when the starter fails on a tour and you have to drain the radiator and block, remove the water inlet to the block to get the starter and Bendix off the engine.

Recently I have run into two starter dives that had a 5/16” bolt in the spring on the starter end and a 3/8” bolt in the hole in the A-13357 sleeve end of the shaft.
Was this done at the factory or...

I think that is a 31 wide body bed based on the tail gate and hinges. My 30-31 bed has no wheel well.
