Gland rings counter bore

Does the block have a counter bore for the gland rings like the exhaust manifold do? My block doesn’t show any sign of any counter bore.

What is the best way to pull the GAV seat to clean under it on a Model B carburetor? I read where to use a 1/4-24 tap to pull it with.

Thanks for the info. I had found a 30-31 boot. If you ever decide to change to a 31 boot keep me in mind for your 29 boot.

Yes they do vibrate. I already have them on the car. I didn't know how they would look with the Ford logo tire covers.

My grandfather had a 31 Chevrolet when my mother was little. He told me he traded it in for a 36 Ford because he would always break an axle.

Rear hubs

I am going thru my brakes and I noticed the lug bolts on the rear hubs are welded in. I have to replace my drums so I guess I’ll be looking for another set of hubs. Is there anything I need to watch...

Yes 1/4. The u- joint cups don’t seem to have any play on the u-joint shaft but if you grasp the front half and rear half it will slide on the shafts outward at least 1/4 back a forth. On a normal...

U-joint inspection

I have my u-joint out and there is axial side to side play on both axis of the joint. There is at least 1/4 inch or more sideward play. Is this normal?
