Gentlefolks,
I am not a great believer in the gospel according to Henry Ford, and I am not joined at the hip to any one supplier. However, I have enjoyed my short time as a member of this forum...

Re: Service Brake Cross Shaft Rebuild
That's what I did some years ago.
As the cross shaft hardly moves, the use of split bearings should not be an issue unless the shaft is very worn. I lucked out, mine was hardly worn.

Re: Bert's Model A Parts, giving a plug
Although I prefer to buy from Canadian sources, my go to US dealer is Snyders. I sent them an e-mail at 10.15 pm their (Ohio) time yesterday. It was in the mail at 9.15 this morning. USPS has it...

Re: Degreasing
I forgot to add to my original response: I have hot water in my garage and use that in my pressure washer for stubborn messes.

Re: Acetone in gas
Up here in the cold, condensation (water) in the gas tank is a real problem as it can freeze in the gas line. It used to be that in cold weather we would put a few ounces of methyl hydrate in the...

Re: Degreasing
I use Gunk and a pressure washer with lots of scraping and brushing, finishing with gun wash (spray gun wash). Occasionally I will use a wire brush in an air drill but I do not like to spread the...

Re: New brake drum and hub assembly
Darren, my tame machinist tells me he uses just over 35 tons to swage my studs. I buy the drums and studs locally and have Darren swage them.
I then have the drums turned at a local brake shop who...

Re: Torque Tube
Just finished rebuilding the rear end on our 1928 Tudor yesterday. Notwithstanding other significant issues, we had a leak at the torque tube/ banjo joint. It had no gasket. However, research and...

Re: A block color
I rebuilt the transmission in our Canadian built 1928 Tudor late last month, and although the paint is long gone from the exterior of both the block and transmission, the inside of the covers over...

Re: Re-thinking shortened pitman arm
Last winter I rebuilt and/or replaced all the steering components in our 1928 Tudor except for the draglink and king pins which were in very good shape. At the same time I fitted a short pitman arm...

Re: Y Izzit?
Scan them into a PDF and e-mail them to yourself, or put them in the cloud, etc.
Also, I agree with post 26, above, too often the books tell you what to do not how to do it.

Re: Lean to the right
Also known as bachelor lean. Turn the springs around and wait awhile, it should self correct given no significant problems such as broken spring leaves. Do not turn only one spring as this could...
