Re: Flowing Jets

Lowering the float level a little will make it run leaner. Not a jet solution, but food for thought...

Re: Flowing Jets

I've had my share of carb rebuilds (from Whizzers to DC-6) and theory classes too. I agree with you that the high altitude will cause a richer mixture. I must believe that Ford (or after-market)...

Re: Steering box ?

If you use only 600W, it will almost certainly leak.

Re: When did the 1931 one piece running board SPLASH APRON start?

Frame is unreadable since I'm not going to lift the body. Title was regenerated by the last owner based on the engine number...so no help there.

Re: When did the 1931 one piece running board SPLASH APRON start?

Thanks for helping me zero in on the build date of my truck. (The date is not shown on the seat riser cross member)

The one piece splash apron cut-in date is a lot earlier than I originally...

Re: Exhaust note

I have a factory muffler on my truck. It seams like a lot of the baffle holes are much larger than they were originally. I keep wondering if I should replace my muffler to get that nice factory...

Re: Thermostat--Yes or NO

Have a friend with a '29 roadster PU that I helped a few weeks ago. Kept overheating. Yeah, you guessed it. His T-stat was about 5 years old.

Re: Fuel Problem?

Al is right on the money with the throttle shaft. The drain plug idea is a good one!

Re: Fuel Problem?

Just so you are aware, the rubber tipped float valves can stick during operation, but seem fine when you take them apart. Guess how I know! I've used the two-ball type since the 70's, when I can...

Re: Spark plug connection

How long does it run after it warms up?
Just instant death, or sputtering before death?

Re: Fuel Problem?

Sounds like the carb float valve is sticking in the closed (or almost closed) position.

Re: The Gulf Oil service station, a Black A, and me

Donuts Derelicts is on Magnolia Ave too, just a couple miles south of where this photo was taken. Best 'informal' car show around, and its every week.

The Gulf Oil service station, a Black A, and me

I stopped at this Starbucks just a couple days ago. I usually don't come here, but it sure got me thinking.

On this site, at the end of the summer in 1975, I worked at my uncle's Gulf Oil service...

Re: Model A - Pickup help

Between you and me Sync, I love seeing a wall-size map with Australia at the top, and in the center, and 'upside down'. It was my daughters favorite map when see was into that.

Re: Model A - Pickup help

Ahh, but since you're in the 'upside down' hemisphere, we didn't want you to mistake that -4A was a good thing... :D
