Re: 38 Ford spare tire shelf-cover in trunk

Resurrecting this older thread. My father is restoring his '38 Tudor Deluxe and is working on this same shelf. Does someone have a drawing or a picture? If you see this 'fordscript', we would love a...

Re: Steering Box Lubricant?

Thanks all. Love this FordBarn.

We're fixing the sector seal now and then we're thinking about trying that 'corn head' grease since there's a John Deere dealer right down the road.

Much...

Steering Box Lubricant?

I've been all over the net trying to find the proper lube for a 1938 Ford Tudor Deluxe steering box. Mostly I get opinions and what's best, but nothing as specified by Henry. Whether the stock lube...

How To Adjust 1938 Sedan Steering

How do you adjust the slack out of the steering of a '38 Tudor Deluxe? My Dad says he used to do all the time in the late forties, but can't remember how. Any help is mucho appreciated.

Re: 1938 Ford hood prop

I have the same problem with our 1938 tudor deluxe. Despite all the previous guesses, does anybody actually know the answer? The '38 is not the same as a '39. A shoulder bolt would make sense, but I...

Re: Positive To Negative Ground... Will Gauge Still Work?

You can't turn that gauge around on a '38 unless you are talking about something inside the gauge. Just reversing the direction of the wire seems to be the consesus. I don't know about you, but I...

Re: Positive To Negative Ground... Will Gauge Still Work?

The car is stock. My Dad said he wanted the negative ground so that when it needed to be charged or jumped, whoever might be doing it, wouldn't mess it up. We had the voltage regulator rebuilt for...

Re: Weird Fastener on '38 Ignition Lock ???

If there are still some of those bolts around, I think I'll try to find a couple. Always best to put it back the way it was if you can.

Thanks for all the posts. This place is the best.

Re: Weird Fastener on '38 Ignition Lock ???

Thanks John,

I did notice the one at the column clamp as well.

This car will be a nice driver. But out of curiosity, how would one replace the security bolt now-a-days?

Positive To Negative Ground... Will Gauge Still Work?

Gentlemen,

My Dad reversed the ground on his 1938 Tudor Deluxe. Now the gauge reads discharge when it's charging. Is the solution as easy as just running the wire the other way on the gauge?

Mahalo!

We were thinking that would be an option but were hoping against it. I guess I'll pull out the Dremel. Thanks again.

1938 Door Seals

Does anyone have an illustration as to how the rubber is mounted around a '38 Tudor Deluxe Sedan? I have checked all the parts sources where I bought the seals but they don't actually describe the...

Re: Interior trim screws

Agreed. But he should have checked the details section of the part online first before buying. Mac's website is pretty good about telling you exactly what comes in a kit.

Re: Trick To Removing '38 Ford Door Hinges?

I wanted to post a thank you to the responders. We drilled them out and got those little S.O.B.s. Started rethinking the whole 'we should have rear view mirrors' thing about half way through. What a...

Re: Trick To Removing '38 Ford Door Hinges?

So if there is a hole already, then someone has started drilling it out before? We've hit it with penetrating oil and will try again to hammer it out. Maybe drill more if we have to.

Thanks for...

Trick To Removing '38 Ford Door Hinges?

Are they hollow? We have a stock '38 Deluxe and cannot for the life of me get any movement on the door hinges. I can't actually see a pin, just a too small hole. I beat the shit out of the area...
