Re: '56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question
Now that you mention spindles, I thought it was unimportant, so didn't mention the spindles were replaced at the same time by 2" dropped spindles...so, I have no idea if they were original style or...

Re: '56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question
OK, I got the car on the lift today and looked it over. //The steering box has a big embossed S on it, which I suspect means Saginaw, and the only numbers I can find on it are 605 in big cast print...

I am starting to wonder if...

Re: '56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question
Thanks, I will try to find some numbers, and get someone to help me post pics.
I can answer two things, the brakes are T-Bird rotors, and a kit I put on after acquiring the car. They work fine. ...

'56 Ford Fairlane Vickie PS question
I have had a '56 Ford Fairlane for about 20 years now, and have always wondered about the power steering setup.
It was a frame off restoration in 1991, and at that time it was converted to a 302...

Re: Two post,four post
Another old guy here. I have two lifts at home, both 4 post models.
The direct lift is the cheapest one they made about 15-20 years ago, paid $2500 installed. It was not bolted down for about 8...

I got new tires for my '56 Fairlane Vickie a few days ago, and had them measure the wheels. Mine are 5" for sure.

About where the money comes from...Galpin Ford is a huge Ford dealership in the LA area.
They even have a museum there.
I was buying a new Mustang GT in 2001, and went there, as they advertised...

Re: Teapot CFM?
I just noticed there is oil leaking from my fuel pump. Could it be getting into the gas delivery? Just wondering if it is possible I may have oil in the fuel, causing it to look too rich?
I have...

Re: Are "$ Doors Classics"
A better question would be "Are 4 door cars desireable?". Of course it still depends on your mindset.
Most older hot rodders (my background) prefer 2 doors by a large margin, and would not own a...

Back in the day, we always put a balance tube between the two pipes, ahead of the mufflers. It made the Y-block sound much smoother. Product of the firing order I guess, as they always sound like...

Re: 1955 Ford Car Wheel Offset
I wanted soo bad to mount 'Bullit ' wheels, like on my '04 Mustang on my '55 T-Bird. So, I tried to mount them, but the 17" wheels still hit the steering knuckle, and would not fit.
I suppose...

Re: It has arrived
I vote to upgrade it to a later model straight six from a half ton pickup. Late 80's had fuel injection and plenty of power.
My '56 Vickie has a 302 from an '86 Mercury, been in there since 1991....
