I rested the pulley backside on a pair or sawhorses (or maybe trimmed boards to clear the water pump), protected the pump from falling to the floor, unscrewed the nut a few turns, then used a hammer...

The above is easier if you have these: https://www.brattons.com/water-pump-mounting-stud-bolts.html , otherwise, you'll need to remove your stock studs to get the clearance to cock the fan/pump...

I have seen stories of milk trucks with creeper gears where the driver would let it roll while dropping off bottles just like with horses. Did these do that?

The two blade fan, with the fake water pump studs, allows you to pull the pump without moving the radiator. Donít forget the cardboard to protect the radiator, though!

It is bulkier than the usual switch. As far as the capacity, fwiw, it says it is for heavy duty and it only has to cut off the full current once to do its job!
