Re: help dowshift 3rd to 2nd

The manual itself says go directly and immediately from third to second without pausing or double clutching. I find it only works that way at speeds under 20 mph. Otherwise double clutch.

Re: engine vibration part 2

I went from a squished front and rear float motor back to stock and found I had significantly less vibration. The old floater pucks were crushed about 1/2 way and rock hard. The stock mount has...

Re: Windshield wiper line install

523729It looks like my old line is in the wrong place then. I can pull it out rather easily from either end. I attempted to pull a new line this way but could not round the corner and didn't want to...

Windshield wiper line install

I'm trying to install a new vacuum line for my windshield wiper in a finished car. I was able to determine the old vacuum line has a tear somewhere concealed in the windshield frame, requiring...

Re: Throttle Repair

I'm an on and off member of the local mafca. I was talking with another member about trading my 28 throttle for a ready to go 30 if they could find it, but the last tour was cancelled.

Throttle Repair

I have been looking for a new throttle for my mid '30 that has had an incomplete and bent throttle. I found a pair of complete '30 throttles less spring at a swap meet for $2 each and couldn't pass...

Re: Cleaning the gas tank in place?

Garden fertilizer sprayer filled with a degreaser of choice. The wand can be positioned to spray most parts of the tank from either the filler cap or gas gauge. You can really only apply and soak,...

Re: Float A Motor

I have noticably less vibration with stock mounts with new pads than I did with floater mounts with old pads and dampeners.

Re: Adding ritght side tail light

They are fairly common for modded jeeps, have you considered a spare tire mounted auxiliary brake light? Works for driving, removable for the car show.

Edit: Momentarily forgot not everyone has a...

Re: Gas shut off valve options

The inline valves seem like a good option for someone who is tired of replacing original style valves.
I thought I saw an old post saying a specific brand hardware store type valve works as a...

Gas shut off valve options

Another young Model A owner and I are having the common gas shut off valve slow leak issue. We both have reproduction gas valves that were lapped with lapping compound and we both use pencil filters....

Re: No spark on two cylinders

Solved.
The loss of two cylinders was a result of a worn out lower body. I assembled 3 distributor bodies on the bench and only one of them would spin in the center of the points. I thought it was...

Re: No spark on two cylinders

Something in the range of 15 mv is near 0. It can be from small differences in temperature or alloy. When it switches from 15mv to 50mv I think fault or heat.

Re: No spark on two cylinders

Either way I think I'm done for other reasons. Noticed a pool of slightly coolant flavored water on the middle head stud. There was a repaired crack on this stud and it appears that I have a head...

Re: No spark on two cylinders

12v at ignition switch, 12v at ammeter, 12v at both terminals of the J-box. 12v at one side of the resistor and 6v on the other. Resistor is hot to the touch. 6v at the resistor side of the coil....

Re: No spark on two cylinders

Update
Replaced the lower housing and used the first housing's set of plates. I believe I had spark on 2-3 cylinders and it still sounded pretty rough. I forgot to turn the gas on and it ran out...

Re: No spark on two cylinders

I'm not going to have the time today to test any of the suggestions but I will update once I do.
I would not have thought that the plate or housing could be worn out. It makes sense as it was...

Re: No spark on two cylinders

I referred to the housing as the cap. I tried 4 housings. The best combination I had was a lightly used old reproduction housing with a new unbent rotor. I had no change with a bent rotor.

I don't...

No spark on two cylinders

I'm wrapping up an engine swap. I had hoped I'd be ready to drive on the 4th, but could not get the two cylinders closest to the radiator to fire and spent most of the 3rd troubleshooting.
I ran a...

Re: Oil filler tube direction

Installing in an engine. Originally it was installed in seemingly a random position. If I read that correctly the opening on the top baffle would be face outward from the engine?

Re: Oil filler tube direction

I was able to gather which end was up, I was referring to the baffle direction as they could be installed rotated in any amount.
