Re: 1929 roadster rumble cushion fasteners
My 29 Sport Coupe has it's original back cushion and it fits close on the bottom but I can still get my fingers in there to start the threads. I'm not sure if they used hex head screw fasteners...

Re: Henry and Edsel
There is plenty of evidence that Henry was hard on Edsel but Edsel knew how to get what he wanted. He would have been the type to defend his father even though he wasn't always treated all that well....

Re: 1931 coupe Rear corner repair
Having done my own metal shaping, it is safe to say that parts can be hand formed if a person has the knowledge, tooling, and a lot of practice using all that. Finding the proper materials to form...

Re: Motor Mount/Yolk
Ford originally had no yoke at all since the motor bolted directly to the front cross member. The spring set up was developed to keep the front cross member from cracking. The illustrated diagram is...

Re: getting into the Rumble Seat
The rumble seat was likely better for kids to set in. I know I don't fit well into mine. A lot of folks put the top props for roadsters on the side rails so that folks will have a handle but they...

Re: The Old Motor
Budd contracted to manufacture all the 82 series cabs so they were all made by Budd but finished by Ford. Most folks refer to that last production cab as a Budd cab since they were well known for...

Re: 3 window coupe
The slant windshield is a sign of subcontract manufacture. Ford didn't make the slant windshield bodies. It's either a Briggs prototype or it's a custom. Ford's first three window coupes were the...

Re: How to test '36 voltage cutout off the car?
They have to be set a bit above the max battery voltage to do the job. This way, only the higher voltage from the generator will close the switch and bring it on line. The switch should open above...

Re: Question on Hooking Up Dwell Meter
On four cylinder Fords, just setting the points to proper gap will generally get the dwell time within specs. It certainly doesn't hurt to check it. The early V8 distributor has an extra set of...

Re: Gas Tank ID
The filler bung with external bayonet lugs is not common in the modern era. The only caps I've seen of that style are for waste water connections but they are larger than that. It may be difficult to...

Re: Newbie with '29 RPU
Many AV8s have been put together but it is a lot of work. The Bishop/Tardel book describes the way a lot of folks did it back in the day. The HAMB has a lot more information about such mods. It's a...

Re: Newbie with '29 RPU

Re: Narrow V8 Rear Axle
Itslow has a point. For spring over axle a person would have to use a narrow rear spring than fits over the mid section (unobtanium). Extend the frame 7.5" to include a crossmember for behind axle...

Re: Newbie with '29 RPU
I believe that the back of the cab wall had either had vertical wood supports or horizontal. I think the seat back cushion attached to them. See Link.
The cab corners look almost complete as far...
