Re: Brake adjustment - Frustration

Here’s how Ford did it:

From the Ford service bulletins:

"......pull the brake pedal all the way back until it is against its stop - then adjust the rod until there is about 1/16” clearance...

Re: Trouble shifting into 2nd or 3rd- BUT.. Unique situation

The problem is first gear is not completely disengaged preventing second gear from engaging. A common problem with the shifter. Most likely as others have said is the shifter ball is no longer round

Re: Exhaust leak at manifold

Buy the repro exhaust and intake manifold setup. They are well worth the money and along with an Aries muffler you will achieve a leak less setup that sounds like a Model A should.

Re: Are Model A coils polarity sensitive ??

It does matter for engine performance. Simple to check. Check one plug. Remove the connector from the top of any plug. The flare should be towards the plug. If not reverse your coil wiring.

Re: Fort Wayne Clutch & Driveline

Make sure they sell the good clutch plate with the metal lips to hold the springs in place. Brattons sells it and FT Wayne will match it for you to the pressure plate adjustment

Re: Calling all Side Mount 31 Carbs that you have

They were early to end 1931 production carbs. I think the first replacements were the 1932 production carbs.

Re: radiator visitors

Lye or draino will eat it out. You may need to do it twice if really bad. Don't leave in for more than 20 min. Wear protective eyewear and clothing. back flush out well with water/short air blasts....

Re: Carb Help needed please!

I wouldn't drill out and replace plugs. You run the risk of cracking the casting when forcing in new plugs. Not necessary. Glass bead the passages and run paper clips through the passages to check
