I agree with you 100%. The reason I wanted the Optima was it is a sealed, maintenance free, non-spillable battery. I don't have to worry about fumes and explosions while charging or checking cell...

The local AAP says there are none in California and it can not be ordered due to haz mat laws not allowing batteries to come across California border. I hate living here. Thanks for your suggestion...

Does any one know of a 6 volt Model A battery that is sealed (no fill plugs) besides the Optima? Apparently there is no stock of Optima's anywhere and no parts house can order them.

Thank you to those that responded. Due to the fact that the zirks are in the wrong positions so I dont know if the wrong grease was used on the rear fitting and the pump shaft is pretty rough...
