Someone replaced the usual '32 arm on one of your cross shafts with a '33-'34 arm.

The extra long arm sounds like it is either off a '33-'34 cross shaft or your second cross shaft assembly is the '33-'34 variety. Do the bases of the two same have the same shape where they attach...
