Re: Peep mirrors

Well...I reversed the clamp and that helps get the mirror where I want, but it does make it only set on a small area of the arm on the door. So I decided to make my own arms. I have access to a CNC...

Re: Timing gears

I understand and read some of the price/quality issues, but the difference in the macerated vs laminated gear is $20. It's not exactly break the bank.

Better question, if you were replacing...

Re: Peep mirrors

While I know there is a hot debate on how to adjust your side mirrors, but I drive truck, and not being able to see the edge of your vehicle in the mirror does not work for backing up, especially...

Re: Peep mirrors

Rotated every which way, every degree, and it is mounted on the front edge of the door, I cannot see the edge of the car. I'm going to fab my own mounts.

Pressure plates

Snyders will sell a rebuilt pressure plate or a brand new pressure plate. The brand new one is $100 cheaper. Are there problems with it? Why rebuild your old one?

Timing gears

Snyders sells a macerated, a laminated, and a aluminum timing gear. The original is macerated and prone to disintegrating, laminated is better? Aluminum is bullet proof? Why sell a macerated gear?

Re: Peep mirrors

Did that, didn't help, I was trying it on the passenger side to see if it worked there, that's why it's adjusted different.

Re: Peep mirrors

Pictures of the mirror and on the car. The clamp bracket doesn't seem bent right and it seems too far recessed into the arm. On the door you can see the main part of the stem is not at a 90 degree...

Re: Peep mirrors

I can't even see cars in the opposite lane because it's angle so far out. I'll take a picture of the mount, it looks like it's bent wrong. It gets worse when you insert of rubber protector.

Peep mirrors

I bought a clip on peep mirror from the standard vendors. It is the straight shank, and I mounted it just above the hinge. Worthless. It is angled out so far that you can't adjust it in enough to...

Re: Luggage weight

That Kari-Keen is a sweet set up, and that's probably what I'm going to try to fab up with some modern box.

Re: Luggage weight

That Zip it rack looks really neat, although the video isn't so great. Not attached to the car, not full frame. It looks like it just bolts to the bumper brackets.

I'm going to have...

Luggage weight

Planning on doing some long trips, and want to add a storage box on the back of a '31 Tudor. Probably going to move the tire somewhere else. What's the theoretical weight limit? Bumper brackets...

Re: Clutch finger adjustment

I adjusted the fingers. I made a measuring tool and went off the throwout bearing. A 5/8 hex nut with a threaded hole for a long screw. No real chatter, and yes securing the locknuts was hard. ...

Re: Clutch finger adjustment

Wear would make the fingers come closer to the cover, every video I have ever seen the fingers are way below level, which does not make sense.

I can see the fingers through the inspection hole,...

Re: Clutch finger adjustment

That's what I'm afraid of. I can see getting to them, and possibly making a jig to adjust them, but I'm not sure how you could do the "rocking" test to make sure they're all even.

My question...

Clutch finger adjustment

I just got a 1931 Tudor that a guy did all the work himself. Everything seems copacetic, but he was like I "did" the shift tower and now the clutch needs adjustment. This didn't sound logical, but...

Re: 30-31 Model AA Front Brake Pin

I got another axle, and neither of them look like your picture. The shoes have the reinforcing plates welded at the pins, and my wedge bolt has a rectangular head, not a round head.

I saw that...

Re: 30-31 Model AA Front Brake Pin

Thanks for the replies. I'm having some other issues with the brake pin length. They seem like that they're too long and the wedge doesn't travel enough.

There are no new tracks I assume...

30-31 Model AA Front Brake Pin

Is there a source for 30-31 Model AA Truck front brake pin that goes through the kingpin? I measure and mine seem to be 8 5/8" long, and one is a little bent and I would like to get replacements. ...
