Mine doesn't either, but it doesn't bother me much. I don't know of supports available. When it's hot, at low speeds I push it out, and then at higher speeds I really don't need it and it gets pushed...

Like Jackson says. My A did the same thing. It was the ground strap that was a bit loose on the battery terminal.

My '28 had that problem with only 40K on the dial. Replaced shift lever with a NOS one, problem solved.

My ball valve was sticking also and I carried a small ball-peen hammer to tap the side of the carb if it quit on me. Last winter I took the valve out and cleaned it with carb cleaner and a Q-Tip....

Snyder's has the little thing that goes around the steering column. At least that's what I use for my Phaeton....Under floor mat is good idea also.

From the factory there were thin metal shims placed under the body where it bolts to the frame. I had to adjust them a bit to get all the doors to fit right when we restored our car.

In our Phaeton I use the pan for the side curtains, in the back under the floor, to put a few things. Then a hide a few things under the front seat. I sometimes stick flat or smaller items items...
