Loyd Carrier Run

Took my Loyd out for its first long run on Monday, got up to 30mph in 4th. 81A Flathead 85HP with truck 4sp gearbox, all as original from 1944.

Where does the earth strap usually attach? I have mine from one of the starter bolts to the chassis, but I could do with the little steel strap that goes from the other starter bolt to an oil pan...

I fixed the off idle stumble, super simple, the idle was too lean. I went back to basics and set up the idle fuel to the highest rpm then brought to back to 700-800 with the throttle screw and now...

It was used to tow an anti tank gun in Normandy after D-Day, they all carried a spare wheel for the gun they were towing as well as the ammunition and the gun crew. Mine was sold to the Belgian army...

I've just found a date for the introduction of expander type piston rings hidden away in a 1956 flathead service manual. It says they were introduced on all 221s in 1939 when the 239 was introduced....
