Re: Arvin 74 H heater for 1938 wagon

That particular Arvin will fit, IF you carefully locate the piping around the fuel pump AND manage to get it high enough for flap door to clear the shifter in reverse and second...

There is a very...

Re: Aug/Sept project 2 to make 1 39 std cpe on sdn pan

I'd recommend removing the spot welds that hold the sedan rear floor to the front floor pan, drilling the spot welds at front cowl and behind c pillar, and then installing sedan front floor pans and...

Re: how to mount 1948-52 F-1 cab on the frame

2x8 run through the window opening or door opening, depending on how complete the cab is, with little 45 degrees blocks attached to catch the inside of cab and outside of door, padded with towels or...

Re: 8BA distributor will not make spark

Wanted to close the loop on this.

Swapped flexible ground strap, no change.

Replaced lead in wire, stud, and insulated power wire to points with a later model one piece assembly (eliminates a...

Re: 50 Ford Caster and Camber bushing tools 3089-N, 3046-N

They are not hard to make, pretty simple job.

Re: 8BA distributor will not make spark

That's about what I thought too, even though it showed continuity on the DMM. So, I:

Burnished the dist body in the clamping pad area to remove the clear coat
Removed points and dremeled off the...

Re: 17 inch split rim replacment

I can confirm Stu as accurate and correct (not that he needs it!) The 48-52 F2, not F3, wheel is a single piece 16 inch unit with the "innie" hubcap nubs; this can found on use with F250s up through...

8BA distributor will not make spark

My recently overhauled aluminum 0BA distributor won't spark. I sent it off and had it rebuilt while I was doing the rest of the engine. Here's what DOES work:

Cap and rotor
Condenser
Plug wires...

Re: Engine Paint

Not sure from the original post if you are doing car or pickup. US car would have been tangerine; US truck would have been light green (very similar to Detroit Diesel green). The red stopped on US...

Re: Steering wheel paint color

For a 49 and 50 ford car, not wagon and not 50 Crestliner, the wheel should be the same whitish ivory color as the dash knobs while the column should be the same metallic gray as the dash.

Lot of...

Re: Stuff ??

Newc, I think your first photo is correct orientation. The third "thing" on the bottom we called "two men in a boat" when I was overseas. No idea what it means...something very similar to that third...

Re: 48-52 4 speed transmission

The depth of the trans crossmember dictates the height of the rear transmount. Also, all the 48 to 52 F1s had cable operated underdash ebrake; same ebrake setup also used 48-50 F2 and F3. 51 and 52...

Re: 48-52 4 speed transmission

Case, shifter, and most of the guts, yes. Rear mounts are different for applications: there are short mounts with no hand brake, medium height mounts for no hand brake, medium height mounts with...

4bbl intake for 8BA

Guys, is there such a thing with the aftermarket aluminum 4 barrel intakes as one WITHOUT an offset generator and fan mount? Either a vintage part or a new part? Looks like most of them have the...

Re: 50 Mercury OD problem

40cpe is correct. A fused hot wire to a toggle switch to the solenoid can is all that is necessary to operate the O.D. all of the other factory stuff is nice and not that difficult to do but one...

Re: 50 Mercury OD problem

If you have the solenoid rod correctly engaged into the pawl (as in you put the solenoid on and gave it aquarter turn) and you are hearing it "click" then I might suspect you have internal problems....

Re: What year and what is it worth?

Style of the bedside says 1948 to mid 1950. Orange speedometer needle says 49 to 50. At least in my area, the Atlanta built trucks dropped the chrome needle for 1949. So its a 1949 to mid 1950. The...

Re: 50 Car Steering Idler Arm?

No, I wasn't one of the ones fussing about the kit. I thought I had the correct pan, but clearly did not. It wasn't worth the hassle to pull the pan or modify the kit. I just hit eBay for the...

Re: 50 Car Steering Idler Arm?

Kit is nice, thick tie rods, etc. But they are correct when they say it only fits the 49-50 oil pan. The pans sort of look the same, except for ribs, when under the car but the new style set up rubs...
