Re: AC evaporator

Those appear to be, at least close to, fairly common. Not many small manufacturers want to reinvent the wheel so they buy as much of-the-shelf stuff as they can. Coming up with that particular chrome...

Re: 56 overdrive 12 volt relay alternative

This weekend I saw MidFifty lists an OEM look-alike relay in their 'Coming Soon' online listings.

Re: new tool

Not to rain on your parade but Snap-On, and others, have had similar tools for years. TM83a, TM84, TM85. The difference being theirs attach to a 1/4" drive tool...

Re: 1955 fuel gauge sender

Not to argue or make light of how you did it but holy cow, that seems to be a lot of unnecessary work. Besides, to make my gauge work correctly with the sending units available today my float arm...

Re: 1955 fuel gauge sender

Re: 1955 fuel gauge sender

Weather's been sloppy around here the past few days. With any luck tomorrow and Sunday supposed to be better. If so I'll get to work and let you know what I find out.

Re: 56 overdrive 12 volt relay alternative

Any standard 30 amp ISO relay (o.k., most peeps call them Bosch relays just like all tissues are Kleenex) will work just fine. Even 6 volt versions are available with a little searching. 12v relays...

Re: Hypoid - transmission - overdrive - too much oil

Sometimes too heavy an oil (or even too 'slippery' an oil) can have ill effects on synchronizer blocking rings. The brass blocking rings act as brakes to slow gears down during gear changes and...

Re: 1955 fuel gauge sender

Sorry for the long post but it's necessary to reflect the information.

The polarity really doesn't mean anything, at least in reference to the stock setup. Regarding your solid state voltage...

Re: 53 truck bed wood dimensions needed.

A quick search will return a number of sites with info. I used these for mine:

Re: 3 Speed Overdrive

A number of people have overcome the length issue by either swapping input shafts, when possible, or having a machine shop make an extended pilot bearing. Search the threads at ford-trucks.com

Re: overdrive relay modern replacement?

Any standard Bosch style ISO relay rated at 30 amps or higher will live a long life. $1-2 online (depending where you look), $6-$10 at your local parts place or dang near free by the handful at the...

Re: Dangerous Moment Caught on Camera... 55 Ford on Jackstands

NEVER use a concrete block! Holy cow, those things will crumble/split without any warning whatsoever. Count yourself extremely lucky.

Re: Car is a floater

Good points listed above however not all concern 'floating'. Prior to the downsizing of cars after the '70s fuel crunch most all American cars wallowed. The bigger and the older they were the more...
