Re: 1941 Convertible- 10,000 Original Miles !!!

I'm basically a skeptic, and I don't believe I'm yet convinced. How many (presumably senior) school teachers would maintain a car like that with those accessories, skirts, spotlights, non-functional...

Re: 8BA into a 1934 Ford

Regarding those U-shaped motor mount adapters... I have a pair, I'll offer for free if someone wants to pick up the postage. Mine are 'repro', painted blue (if that means anything). Quality unknown....

Re: Help with Engine dating

That IS interesting... the 6, and the 9, and the 1, are dead give-aways. Those stamps were, and are, generally not commonly the ones WE have.
Good 'catch'.

Re: Help with Engine dating

I'm sure you can find lots of old threads on the Ford parts system. Briefly, the '5' in 59 indicates the year that the part number was released for production. In this case, 1945. The '9' indicates...

Re: Muffler review

Ref. post #13... In the ear of the beholder.
I've got Smitty's on both my 47, and my 34. I've had them for several years, and I'm happy with them. Which is not to say that I wouldn't be happy with...

Re: Selling a vehicle and money questions...

I discussed this with my banker. The bank gave me a 'temporary number', good for the one transaction. When the funds were posted, they were transferred into one of my regular accounts, and the...

Re: Complete 8BA Flathead - what can I expect to pay

good luck. The disassembled rust bucket was/is overpriced.
I've had real good luck getting a few (very few) that are unusable. You take your chances. It would be better if you knew the person, and...

Re: 34 body to frame bolt locatons

On my 4-door, it was every available hole on the rails. On the X-member, I'm not so sure. There was a recent thread on here about body bolts for a cabriolet, and someone posted how many bolts are in...

Re: '40 Rear end axle help

And, I've always liked dealing with them (Bill & Michael), and, they have always had whatever it was that I was looking for. They ship, and they will stand behind something like axles. If one slips...

Re: $$$$$

For whatever it's worth... And, my point of reference is 5 or 6 years old...
I disassembled a 59A myself, and took it to a very experienced local guy. I supplied the parts (at least most of them)....

Re: Oldest daily driver... with highway speeds

I haven't been able to understand why op sold the 66 in the first place. Seems like 'offer can't refuse' is, and was not, a good reason. My situation is pretty similar. Daily driver is a 69, which I...

Re: estate sale, so cal

I also believe Bernie was a wonderful guy. I'm proud to have called him my friend. We shared many great 'chats' (He did most of the talking). I first met him and Margaret on an EFV8 tour to Death...

Re: 34 body bolts

When I put my 34 sedan body down, All of the bolts that David mentions, were used. But, my sedan bolt count was in the '50-range'. So, I wonder, is a Cabriolet different, meaning less bolts? Anyway,...

Re: What oil to in a steering gear box?

I've been using Penrite. Problem is, if you add cornhead, or Penrite, or any other similar, on top of something that leaks, then it's still going to leak, at least until the last of the leaky stuff...

Re: NOS Airtex Fuel Pump - Worth it?

150 can, wow. Last (and only) pump I bought was a old 'rebuilt' one that had been stored many years. Because it was old (but still looked clean and fresh), the seller asked 5 dollars (us), and...

Re: Lots of great 34 Ford footage! Netflix Highwaymen

I'm not so sure about that... The version that I read, had the car being TOWED to town, and I think with bodies in it???
And, the "over 100 rounds", not sure of that, either. I've seen the car many...

Re: 34 body to frame bolt set...where does it all go?

There should be old threads on this. My recollection is that there are over 50. The majority are 'vertical', and just a couple per side that are horizontal (below the front floor/toeboard).

Re: Distributor cam lube.

I've been using the lube from one of these Standard Lubricam tubes, for years. Maybe 40 years or so. Sparingly. It seems to work great. Stays on the cam, does not migrate, does not get 'thrown...

Re: Headlight options for 6v

I've got Cibie on a couple of my cars. (7-inch, round, like 6012H used on most 50's, 60's cars) They are not flat, but rather, convex, shaped like originals. They take the H4-type bulb. I've had...

Re: start on 12v run on 6v

Look in Rumbleseats writeup. I have used his system in my own 47, for several years. Works good for me. As alluded to above, it's a total-loss system. I used a small (80 Fairmont) battery. The rest...
