Re: Cowl Lights ??
Of the three cars I restored before my F1, my 1930 Essex had big fancy chrome ones, my 1926 Chevy Touring has small painted ones and my 1929 Willys Whippet 96A doesn't have any but I picked up some...

Re: Cowl Lights ??
Cowl lights were pretty standard for most North American vehicles in the twenties and thirties, not only Ford. Sometimes the base models didn't have them and the more expensive models did. They...

Re: Rust removal CRC's Evapo-Rust
Has anyone tried Tetrasodium EDTA? According to a You Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9kBdJQMPPI&t=10s) it works just the same and as well as Evaporust and is dirt cheap. You can get it...

Re: Replacing tires on stock 16 inch rims
I mounted the 15" tires on my 52 F1 by hand on the floor on a blanket and was surprised to find how easy it was. First time I had ever tried it. If I were to do it again I would throw in bags of...

Re: '36 Radio Conversion Poor Sound
*If you look at the picture of the card carefully, you can see soldered connections to R+, R-, L+, and L-. That means two speakers, Right and Left. It helps to turn the picture upside down so you can...

Re: '36 Radio Conversion Poor Sound
I would trace the wire from the antenna to see where it goes. It should somehow connect to the card. You might also try temporarily (jumpers) connecting the antenna to the card, centre to ANT and and...

Re: '36 Radio Conversion Poor Sound
Is the antenna attached to the case or the card? I see an "ANT" connection on the green circuit board but can't see if anything is soldered to it because it's covered by a wire. You would think that...

Re: '36 Radio Conversion Poor Sound
Regarding your radio, I would check to see if the antenna is connected properly to the board. Even my Aliexpress radio, $27 including shipping to Canada, has pretty good sound.

Re: '36 Radio Conversion Poor Sound
I started with an original stock dead radio in my 1952 Ford F1. I threw out all the guts and kept only the case and of course the front. I bought a working $5.00 AM/FM radio at a swap meet and...

Re: Bob Drake Tank and Sender
I just went through this experience with my almost finished '52 F1. Sender wasn't working and spent $75 for a new one on eBay. Installed it and it only went up to 1/2 when full. Read through lots of...

Re: Sudden Discharge
I think the problem is the starter. It's probably drawing way to much current when it's hot.

Re: Vacuum Gasoline System
I think Ford was pretty much the only manufacturer in the twenties and early thirties who thought it was a good idea to put the gas tank in the cowl and use gravity to feed fuel to the carburetor....

Re: valve seats revisited
I repaired the 8BA for my 1952 F1 four years ago (Jan. 2019) with Irontite pins. This was discussed in my thread (Eagle43) named "Hairline Crack". I bought a box of 100 Irontite A-235 plugs, a...

Re: How to properly warm up a Flathead
I would imagine that diesel or barbeque lighter would work about the same as paint thinner or mineral spirits. As long as you do it outside without anything flammable close by you should be fairly...

Re: Airtex E8902 Debacle
It looks like a number of companies sell similar 6 Volt fuel pumps on Amazon. They look pretty much identical and some are quite a bit cheaper than Autokay's.
