Engine ticking noise
My engine has a ticking noise that increases with rpm and can be heard at idle when stopped. I think it is a valve clearance noise. If it is valve noise is it normal? I have heard it on some other...

Re: Pacemakers and Model A ignition systems
I am reactivating this old thread to bring this subject to the attention of the group. My post #1 explains the issue. I have since had more MRI's and the Medtronic unit has made it possible. Just...

Re: TDC Finder
A lot of adieu about nothing. What's wrong with watching for the rotor to come to the #1 post on the distributor housing? when it gets close slow down and use the pin on the timing gear.

Re: Car fails to acheave high speed
Dann, There is a hard stop---no screw adjustment--- on the throttle against the carb. The accelerator rod should allow the throttle to touch the stop. Check that the hand throttle does too. Bill G

Re: Starter Bendix bolt broken
Two things to talk about: 1---try a rare earth magnet, one about the size of a quarter, put it on the ring gear, turn it around with the crank and the bolt should be attached to it when it comes...

Car fails to acheave high speed
A friend of mine recently complained that his new car (to him) was not able to go faster than 40 mph and was unable to climb grades very fast and barely made it to the top of steep grades. He changed...

Re: Dead Pertronix Coil
After reading many posts on this forum in the past months I have learned that oil-filled coils should be mounted terminals up on an A. If they are tar or epoxy-filled they can be mounted either way....

Re: Trouble changing fan belt
Again, it doesn't matter. The space is fixed between the crank pulley rim and engine mount flange as long as the mount is attached to the engine. And the starting crank does enter the bushing -- ...

I can not change my fan belt without removing the front engine mount screws from the engine and raising the engine about 1/16" to let the belt pass through the gap between the crank pulley rim and...

Re: Shifting problem with all new gear box parts
Problem was shifting from 1st to 2nd across the middle and occasional lockup at intersections. Poeple don't like old cars that hols up traffic.
Looked at alignment of forks on the shifting shafts...

Shifting problem with all new gear box parts
Some time ago Tom Endy posted that the repo shifting forks are questionable. I don't have ready access to old parts. Could someone tell me what is wrong with the repo parts so I can get them fixed? ...

Thanks for all the good replies.

Coil Resistance
I have a problem with coil resistance. I think I am doing everything right by using a 1.5-ohm coil with a 1.5-ohm ballast resistor and a 12volt coil.
When I run the car up to 45mph I get...

Re: Modern Shocks any good?
Reducing the tire pressure might work but what would it tell me. I can't run with reduced press all time but would it indicate I need softer springs? I like the idea of removing the front springs too.

Modern Shocks any good?
