Re: vapor lock...just curious

I have a '35 Fordor and 'think' I just had a vapor lock issue this past weekend. I had replaced the coil last week (spark looked weak) & it started right up that day & a couple days later, I drove...

Re: 35 banjo steering wheel

Thanks to you & TJ for that advice. Now if I can find a replacement wheel I'll make sure to get the horn/light rod to match

Re: 35 banjo steering wheel

Thanks; if I changed to the horn/light switch correct for the year of the wheel, would that involve a lot of rewiring, since the lighting/horn wiring currently goes down through the steering column? ...

Re: 35 banjo steering wheel

I have a '35 Fordor with a '36 Banjo wheel. It was on the car when I purchased it, so I don't know the manufacturer of the wheel. The paint on the wheel is chipping off (no cracks in the wheel) and...

Re: Banjo Wheel for '35

Thanks John, even though I know it's not standard on the '35s, I do like the banjo wheels and am looking to repair/repaint or replace with another banjo.

Banjo Wheel for '35

I have a '35 Fordor that had a Banjo wheel installed when I purchased it (picture attached). From the prior posts describing various banjo wheels, this seems to be a '36 wheel. The paint is...

Re: 35 Fordor Deluxe Steering/Dash color

No problem on the sideways photo, I saved the image and rotated it. I found the color charts for the '35 Fords on the TCP global site: ...

Re: 35 Fordor Deluxe Steering/Dash color

Thanks - it hadn't occurred to me that the banjo wheel was a '36, so that explains the brown paint under where the black is flaking off.

Re: 35 Fordor Deluxe Steering/Dash color

Thanks... that's really helpful. Metallic Taupe sounds like it should be brown/tan, but in your picture, it looks black or dark grey? Is it really black or dark grey or is that just the picture? ...

35 Fordor Deluxe Steering/Dash color

The (black) paint on the steering wheel of my '35 Fordor Deluxe touring sedan is flacking off, and it is brown underneath. I'm trying to determine the original color. I have a 1935 brochure, that...

Re: Foaming/cavitating coolant in my 34

Is there an effective way to drain the antifreeze out of the radiator to replace it with distilled water?

Re: Foaming/cavitating coolant in my 34

I've read through all the posts in this thread, and with a somewhat similar problem, many of the points here are helpful. I have a 35 Fordor with overflow tube off the top of the radiator. I...

Re: '35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

I don't think my engine is idling fast when it gets hot; I don't have a tach on it to know exactly, but by sound & feel it seems to be idling normally. When I was experiencing the grinding I was...

Re: '35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

I replaced the trans fluid with 80W-90 GL4 and while it was on the lift I adjusted the clutch pedal to reduce free play. I drove the car approx 30+ mins to see if the grinding went away when the...

Re: '35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

Mart, I tried the test you suggested. When the noise stopped, I had very little movement before the pedal hit the floor. I tried a couple times to make sure it was consistent; it did stop the...

Re: '35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

Thanks to all for the very helpful comments.
1) Charlie & others advice about the temp of the trans fluid explains why I was having the issue once the car had been running for awhile. I had...

Re: '35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

The free travel now is approx 1-3/4", and the manual says on the ’35 it should be 1-1/2 to 2”. The only concern I have about lessening the free play is the manual says “the increased pedal...

Re: '35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

Hi, to fill in some of the blanks: the odometer shows 85,000; I purchased it 2 months ago and have driven it approx 300 miles. The grinding started the last 2-3 times I've driven it, so I drove it...

'35 Gear Grinding in 1st & Reverse

My '35 Fordor has recently started grinding when I try to shift into 1st or reverse. This only happens occasionally. I can't figure out why this would be, but each time it happens it is after I've...

It is a can style, see attached picture. I haven't found another resistor in-line, and didn't see one (that I recognized) at the coil, although it could be somewhere else in the circuit. I will...

Re: 35 Instrument Lighting

Based on all of this info it makes sense to correct the wiring. If it was just one wire/connection that was bad, I'd correct that but as you say there's almost nothing correct. Checking online...
