Re: I need a place to start. The basics of a Model T

Excellent.
Mine wasn't that cheap. I'll have to try Hershey next fall. By then, I should have some idea what I'm doing..

Re: I need a place to start. The basics of a Model T

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have one of those stand adaptors holding my a motor. It looks like it'll work with the T.
The guy gave me a sturdy little cart I can use to roll the T motor around...

L/F T spindles, prefer 26-27, but anything will do

Hi.
I'm totally new to Model T's.
I've recently picked up some stray chassis parts for a model T.
I've got a nice front axle, with spring perches and a wishbone. (The type that mounts underneath,...

Re: Motor stand adapter for Model A engine

I bought one from snyders, although it seemed like a lot to spend.
No regrets, though. It's very solid, and allows you to spin the motor nose down, which makes hanging the flywheel much easier....

I need a place to start. The basics of a Model T

So, I'm new to Model A's.
I bought an A motor at a yard sale 15 months ago. I met a bunch of local guys, bought lots of spare parts, and I'm building a car.
I'm not an expert, but I've managed to...

Re: Removing rear hubs

I don't know if I'll need to try this or not, but the physics make sense.

I have another hub-related question, though.
I've helped a friend fight with his. It was a car that had sat for decades....

Re: Quick measurement needed, '29 Coupe or Tudor

Thanks very much. I would not have guessed those two measurements to be different.
I'll have to try and cobble it all together and see if I can hang the doors..

Quick measurement needed, '29 Coupe or Tudor

I'm piecing together a sport coupe.
My subrails were torch cut in the front, so I need to make some repairs.
If you have one of these cars, can you measure the door opening?
Distance between the A...

Re: OT trip to England

England is big. Where are you going exactly?
Coventry has a great transportation museum. It's the Detroit of the UK, so everyone will look at you like you're insane if say you're going there...
We...

Replacing cross-members

Hi.
I'm slowly reviving a '29 business coupe.
While prepping the frame for paint, I noticed that both the front and rear crossmembers are bolted in.
They're not new, but they have been swapped.
I...

Re: Repair panel suggestions.

I did mic them. The charts I found online shows 16ga for the snyders panel, 20ga for the new panels from Mike's.
I'm inclined to make the heavier pair work.

Re: Repair panel suggestions.

So.
This might be of interest to some. Often, on these forums, people post questions or start a project and you never find out how it gets resolved.
My cab/sport coupe panels arrived today from...

Re: Repair panel suggestions.

Thanks for that list. I hadn't heard of half of them.
I called Mike's this morning. Although they were showing "out of stock" the c/s guy went looking and found a set. They should be on their way...

Re: Repair panel suggestions.

Looking at the crumbs, I'm almost positive my car needs the cab/sport coupe version.
At least I learned something. Hopefully, they are in stock. Mike's website allows you to buy things, even if they...

Re: Repair panel suggestions.

Thanks for the info. Mine were really tattered, that photo is pretty helpful. I might be able to pie cut this new brace, and change the step at the top if I can't find something that fits.
Depends...

Repair panel suggestions.

I've got my sport coupe tub set up on a steel table with casters. Much rust repair is needed on the subrails and trunk area.
A few months ago, I bought some triangular braces from Snyders and have...

Re: '29 coupe subrail repairs

Blah.
Thanks, though.
This is my first early ford. The amount of wood in this car is shocking.
That said, it's a fun project.

'29 coupe subrail repairs

I'm finally beginning on my subrails. They need a bunch of repairs.
I'll need to replace everything behind the rear crossmember.

If the subrails were new and complete, would they lay flat on a...
