Re: Embarking on a Laycock-overdrive odyssey
Thanks all - good input and much appreciated!
My intention was/is to use the original OD relay as this gives the switching behavior I think is best and most foolproof. One feature of it is, that...

Re: Embarking on a Laycock-overdrive odyssey
A question for those with a Laycock unit already installed: how is the solenoid wired?
It comes from a 12 volt negative ground, and I don't currently see a way to isolate it from ground. Which...

Re: Embarking on a Laycock-overdrive odyssey
Small update:
The physical adaptation of the OD is still pending. Have focused on the electrical side of the installation.
Got my hands on a Volvo OD-relay (12 volt neg ground), that now sits...

Re: maximum rpm, personal choice...
:D On a less serious note: That must equate to a maximum rpm range around 37,000 rpm :p
I wonder what the speed of the model A is at that engine rpm

Re: Starter cuts out
Have a look at the headlights while cranking - they should dim but not go out completely. May give an indication of the health of your battery.

Re: rear hub bearings
Synchro - I for one disagree.
While I do not currently have a wheel bearing problem I would certainly consider a modern alternative when I do have to replace the old original style bearings.

Re: Aftermarket 2 blade aluminum fan
Slightly OT: As a kid I remember loosing a fanblade on the A doing about 80 km/h on the highway. There was a loud bang, the blade went straight through the side causing a 3-4 cm long exit wound. It...

Re: Rear End Pressure
I am gathering parts for a Laycock OD custom build - somewhat similar to the Mitchell. It really didn't appear to me that the rear end needs venting - I'll make sure to incorporate a proper vent....

Re: Repurposing Wheels
Many good ideas so far!
