36 pickup rear end

I have A 36 pu on a 39/40 frame with hydrolic brakes , can I use the center section from a 36 rear end to change my ratio fro 4:11 to 3:78?

I have a 36 pick up on a 39/40 frame it has 4/11 rear gears . can I use the center section of the 36 rear that is 3/78, With the axels and housings from the 39/40. It is geared to low for highway use.

lawson,my 36 pick-up has the brace on the bed,the serial #is 18 323 4332 and I got the truck in Mason City Iowa about 10 years ago
