Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
This is off topic, which I think has pretty much run its course, but my 180 degree crankshaft showed up from Moldex last night. Here are a few pics, one is it next to an original Norden. The longer...

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Hey Ron, where do you think the optimum plug placement (if there is one) should be? For performance of course. Do you think indexing plugs improves performance?

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Earl is pretty much sitting back and advising but I'm sure will be involved during the assembly. He's interested in how the mushroom lifters will work out. Something he's always wanted to try.

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Hey Ron,
I'm using the twin to the block Earl ran with injected nitro that has set many records in it's day and is still a runner but not in a car at this time. One thing Earl had done was to...

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Hey Martin,
Earl ran some of his fastest times when he borrowed Hanson's heads. Luckily for me, I was able to get a hold of Virgil and purchase the same heads Earl ran 20 years ago. They have more...

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Hey Ron, Yes the block is filled with aluminum. My father in law, Earl Floyd, had a few done about 25 years ago. If I were to do it today I'd use epoxy.

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Ya, very similar to the 300F and I don't know what the lift rate is. Although I wish I did, I don't always have the technical knowledge on many aspects of this build, especially the cam. I provided...

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Camshaft finally arrived yesterday and it only took 6 months. I had Joe at Roto-Faze turn me a blank then shipped off to Jerry at Schneider Racing Cams. Told Jerry the purpose of the build and they...

Sheesh! Read my original post if you're going to comment. I didn't ask whether or not I should use them, I ask for info from those who have.

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Well, it took about 9 month but I finally have my mushroom lifters. I couldn't find any stock lifters to modify so I had these made from 8620. Since it's the same material as my cam, I had them DLC...

Re: V8 Flathead Ford Tattoos
Tough thread here but I'll add mine. Not done yet and not quite a flathead, more like a flemi (flathead + hemi). One more session to go to get it finished.

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
Hi Cartravel,
I've been to your website many times in the past, reading through the information you published on cam design and performance. Great information, but it still confuses me.

Re: Mushroom lifters – Any advice
I've looked at the Crane roller lifters/cams but I think they require too much valve spring seat pressure for a flathead to handle and I'm sure they are not light weight. A mushroom lifter is 15...
