Out of curiosity, have you swapped plugs around?
Probably not the oil fouling problem, but a leaking or cracked intake will make one cylinder run crappy.

Also the brake and clutch pedals. Just did the same thing. I’m putting it back as a single assembly. Engine and tranny bolted together.

When you say loose valve guides, do you mean worn stem clearance, or not securely attached?

The hood in a head on, can come up and through the windshield into someone’s face, or upper chest. I’ve see in happen.
Unfortunately the driver died from the column, and passenger from the hood.

What kind of fan did you get? It is possible the shaft and fan angles don’t match. Also on an aluminum two blade fan, you need a washer behind the nut to keep from biting into the aluminum and...

If the oil drains out good, and there’s no sludge in there, I wouldn’t pull the pan. I would start it and then if you hear any noise down there then you can do it. You’re not going to hurt the babbit...

I would have to say, stick with 6 V, clean all your connections, make sure your battery cables are good, and it’ll crank over like crazy. In my opinion eight volts is just a Band-Aid fix to cover up...

Try running it in the dark, and watch for voltage leaking. Although, usually, if it’s intermittent spark, you’ll get backfiring. I assume your plugs are clean.

The way to check king pin bushings, is to put your hand on the backing plate and the brake drum at the top then move the wheel in and out. If just just the brake drum moves, than your wheel bearings...

Refrigeration numbers on thermostats get larger as it’s turned colder. So would you say turn it up , or turn it down if you wanted colder temps?
Would you say number 4 exhaust valve or valve number...

I really don’t see, or have, a problem with the original design. I can see how it’s a bugger on the RHD though.
