Re: Stuck valve....I'd guess??

The compression test is my next step.....and I probably should of dis that first off to see what I was really working with.
But with the flat spot it has, it very could be a weak cylinder or more.

Re: Stuck valve....I'd guess??

I will just keep putzing on it and look over the steps a few guys mentioned on here, sometimes a guy thinks to much and maybe overlooks something simple that could be the cause.

Re: Stuck valve....I'd guess??

I will have to pull and re-gap the plugs, at .025 wouldn't the spark just be a little hotter or is the difference enough to make a big difference?
I also looked at Marco's chart and that's where my...

Re: Stuck valve....I'd guess??

Yep I did, I double checked that twice......but as your post mentioned, it sure seems like the timing is somewhat retarded with the lack of power.

Stuck valve....I'd guess??

This past weekend I fired up the new project I brought home a week ago.
I cleaned the points, changed out the condenser, replaced the coil and also timed the motor. I changed the condenser after...

Re: Canfield is making me build a Roadster! Can I build it from swap meet only parts?

It is nice to see a finished car.....but to see them start with a frame and a cowl and adding the pieces along the way and then sitting in the shop on the four tires and rolling chassis like that...

Re: Coil, condenser or points?

My first 29 I brought home 3 years ago had sat for 40 years in storage, I replaced the coil cause I had no spark and then as you just mentioned, play around with the points cleaning and then setting...

Re: Coil, condenser or points?

Thanks Tom.....
Kind of what I was thinking but didn't have my feeler gauge or file at home last night and I wanted to clean and set them and them and eliminate that as an issue.
