Rewinding Horn Field Coils
I recently saw an excellent article on this, complete with clear pictures. I cannot remember where I saw it, and searches of this site and VFF do not find it.
Does anyone recognize the article...

Oil Pump Question
I’m rebuilding 2 oil pumps and have noticed several differences. One pump, which I believe is a newer one (according to the service manual) has 4 ribs on the body, a smaller discharge hole and the...

Re: Driving at night - Charge and Ammeter Readin
That sounds almost normal - but what kind of headlight bulbs are you using ? The 50 cp incandescent bulbs do draw quite a bit of power. I have replaced mine with the LogoLite LED bulbs, which are...

Re: Help me identify engine noise?
This is interesting. My car has been making a similar or the same noise for 30 years or so - I can hear it around 40 mph. I swapped a rebuilt engine into the car 6 months ago and still hear the...

Re: Oil pump replacement gears
I just pulled the original pump gears from the degreaser bath, cleaned them up and inspected them. They are clearly machined, as the marks are very visible on both ends of each gear. There is also...

Re: repro exhaust manifold
I’ve owned my Model A for over 50 years and never had a droopy manifold issue until this year. It really surprised me, but I learned something new. Also in realizing that the car is almost 90 years...

Re: Oil pump rebuild
Thanks for the responses. I did recently swap a rebuilt engine into the car (old engine ran fine but had a cracked block) and had the pan off. The pan was actually quite clean after removing the...

Oil pump rebuild
I rebuilt the oil pump in my A 2300 miles (and 30 years...) ago. I’m thinking that it would be a good idea to consider doing this again, even though very few miles have been driven since the last...

I have replaced the camshaft gear without removing the radiator. It’s pretty tight, but it can be done. I second Patrick’s suggestion in post #3 - enlarge the dimple for the timing pin. I use...
